Cuja was rescued from the Wheeling, West Virginia track by the Ohio State University Blood Donor program in July. She has been my foster dog since she left the track. I have recently made the decision to keep her. She will join my little girl, Shelby (a 16 year old whipador (whippet/lab mix)) and me in our home outside of Columbus, Ohio. Cuja is a very sweet little red girl hound with amazing muscles. I usually get my fosters after they have gone through a 3 month prison training program. This is the first time I've had one fresh off the track. So I am kind of in awe of her muscle definition. I also had the joy of seeing her finally realize what stuffies were for. She squeaked the stuffies every waking moment for at least 3 weeks. She's even killed two "Invincibles" snakes. You know the kind they claim will never stop squeaking? Cuja is beautiful and sweet and funny and loving -- but she isn't an Einstein. This doesn't matter because I never wanted a dog that was smarter than me. She also likes kitties and little furry creatures a bit too much. This is also just fine with me. She is a bit of a velcro dog, but so far hasn't shown any real signs of separation anxiety. She will be a blood donor dog at OSU, saving the lives of many of her canine brethren. He has a special bandana and when he wears it he carries his head high! We know firsthand how valuable the canine blood bank is-Pinky received platelets after her amputation...she was bleeding too much for our doctor's comfort, so they gave her platelets on Dr. Marin's advice Congratulations to both of you!
