I, too, followed your other thread and it was obvious you went above and beyond to help your Chips.

He died knowing he was loved.

Such a beautiful tribute. I was at the kennel the day he came in, with 3 other dogs and got to take the first pictures of him for the website. I fell in love with him. He was such a sweet dog.

Your time with him sounds really magical and I am sure it was the best of his too-short life.

Condolences on your huge loss.

This is just heart breaking. I, too, followed your other thread and had the feeling that whatever it was, was out of Chips' control. You were all so blessed to have found each other. Without any doubt, the happiest time in Chips' life was with you. :grouphug :grouphug

I'm so very sorry. :cry1 The best months of his short and not-always-happy life were with you. I wish he could have stayed--and been healthy--longer.

You guys were a family; and I am sure he knew that. I know your hearts are hurting right now, but I sincerely hope that when the pain eases, you will consider sharing your home and hearts with another hound. There is some very deserving boy or girl out there who will think they've won the lottery if they get to go to a home as loving and understanding as yours. Godspeed, Chips... Send your Momma a rainbow so she knows you made it, OK?

Teary eyed over here, as well. :cry1

Chips sounded like such a "wonder dog" and I'm so sorry that he had to succumb to such an awful thing. I loved your narrative about him. :beatheart

It's not easy to lose your heart dog. You had such a short time with Chips, but I know he was fortunate to have both you and Lane and all the love you had for him.

I am so sorry for your loss :weep

Run free and pain free Chips.

Thank you, everyone for your very kind words, they mean so much to us. Lane and I read through all these last night...on this thread and the previous one as well. Made us tear up, I have to admit, but we're so astonished and grateful for the outpouring of sympathy and support we've gotten from your folks on GT.

There is a little bit of comfort in knowing it was nothing we could have fixed, and something that was just destined to happen no matter what. Truth be told, I think he always had the tumor, at least while we had him, probably before that as well when I think back on it. There were signs. I think it was better that we never put it together, so we were able to get as emotionally invested as possible and enjoy the time we had together without knowing it was going to be cut short. There was only time to grieve after the fact. I think that's a blessing, in a way.
