Guest Blitzkrieg
this morning i had to send my 10 year old Saint to the bridge 10 is really old for a Saint and he has been slowly failing since we lost his sister last year to osteo he had been falling a lot and it was a struggle for him just to go outside or get up to eat last night he couldn't get up and would just fall back down if we helped him up and his breathing was labored and for the 1st time in his life would not take a cookie this morning is was the same and i knew it was his time Ive lost 3 dogs in a little over 1 years time - it never gets any easier the house seems so empty and Neka is all alone now until my W&W hounds arrive Ruger (we called him Roo most of the time) in his prime he was a 150 pound monster with paws bigger than my hand and strong as an ox never as playful as his sis - i think he saw his role as protector ever vigilant -no man or animal came near the house without him letting me know he always watched the TV - ive never seen a dog so obsessed with the TV he would watch for hours and if any and i mean ANY animal(even mickey mouse) came on he would bark/jump/lunge at the TV he ruined 2 TV's before we got a flat screen and mounted it up high where he could reach even with that he was still a big baby - he would always come and lay his head on your lap for pets if you sat down and if you were petting another dog - oh would he worm his way in to get the attention in his younger days his would routinly find every damn swamp hole and go romping in the mud - (not fun bathing St.B's) both him and Blaze loved running around in fresh the snow in winter - they would eat a lot of it too fully groomed he was possitivly gorgeous - but never seemd to stay that way very long in the spring we would shave him to help keep cool - when his fur just started to grow back he looked very svelt and muscular i miss you big buddy - i hope you found Blaze and Blitz at the bridge Edited September 23, 2011 by Blitzkrieg

heartdogs
We had a Saint in the 80s & Bernie was just as sweet as you said. My son had a black/tan doxie that would put her head inside Bernie's mouth to clean his teeth. Maybe Bernie was there to meet Ruger at the bridge. Guest Blitzkrieg
thank you for all the kind words we had both Ruger and Blaze since pups (one pic is Roo as a puppy) Saints are some of the cutest pups you'll ever see they are messy and a lot of work, but are very loving and loyal dogs i wish i had taking more and better pics or him - but im not a very good camera person and Roo in particular seemed to shy from the camera - i have a lot of good pics of the other dogs, but not many of him he watched TV whenever it was on - but the only pic i have is him watching the Zestra commercial we buried him next to his sister Blaze and Blitzkrieg our greyhound today i am going to plant him a rose to mark his spot Edited September 23, 2011 by Blitzkrieg

My house feels so empty too, it's very hard to deal with. What a wonderful life your baby had though! What a funny story about the TV! You are in my thoughts and prayers, and we are all here for you.
