Survival Anniversary For Gracy

I haven't posted for a while. I'm sorry to see new names here but osteo won't rest. I always look for Charlie because he and Gracy were diagnosed about the same time and I'm happy to see that things are status quo. I'm really pleased to see that Dude is doing so well. Last time I posted he was one sick cookie. Kisses too Charlie and Dude. Gracy is doing really well eating sleeping chewing bully sticks like crazy and going on her walks. She is however shortening the walks. Her endurance for walking is down by about 30%. I have been so excited and praying I could post this message, never knew if we would make it, but it's safe to say that her 1 YEAR SURVIVAL is here. For all you out there wondering what's in store for your dog, hold the faith. Gracy was given a few weeks to live. Her tumor, back L leg was enormous. She had amputation and 6 months of chemo (carbo). No one seems to know why some dogs do better then others, but My oncologist thinks older dogs do better following amp. and chemo. We plan to celebrate with my carrot cake and cream cheese frosting followed by the forbidden pigs ear. To say I'm grateful is an understatement. The sunken heart ready to pass out feeling I had when my vet told me Gracy had osteosarcoma is still with me. Having her this year has been a treasure. Wishing you and your hounds time together, enough to work through and recover from the shock of diagnosis and to have quality time together whatever time you have left.
