Of all my hounds, you always were the strong one.Always looking out for the others (and me).You always looked at every situation, and dealt with it accordingly. You could be SO tough, or just as gentle.This monster crept up on us so quickly and so quietly, that there was nothing we could do. This time, YOU were the weak one, and you depended on me the way I've always depended on you. I had to make the agonizing decision to take away your pain as I had promised you.I was right there with you sweetheart, loving you all the way to the bridge, but now I'm just lost without you.Please know that I'll be loving and missing you EVERY minute. JohnF Posted June 28, 2011 Share Posted June 28, 2011 I am so sorry to read that you have lost your sweet Spy who was clearly one of those exceedingly rare heart dogs that bless our lives. We make an unpoken promise to them that we will be able to arrange this last act of loving kindness when we know we need to let them go. For their part they will be with us in our memories forever helping us with all the other dogs that come into our lives. And when a dog like that passes we find that the natural healing process we call 'Grieving' begins at once with us being able to cry freely. And from the Bridge they send us Calming Signals and tell us we did what was right and at exactly the time they needed us to help them. They leave a fine legacy too: “The Legacy” (author unknown - perhaps my Angel who passed 01:23:09 sent it from the Bridge...) When humans die, they make a will To leave their homes and all they have to those they love. I, too, would make a will if I could write: "To some poor wistful, lonely stray I leave my happy home, My dish, my cosy bed, my cushioned chair, my toy. The well loved lap, the gentle stroking hand, the loving voice, The place I made in someone's heart, The love that at the last could help me to a peaceful painless end Held in loving arms. If I should die, Oh do not say, "No more a pet I'll have, to grieve me by its loss" Seek out some lonely, unloved dog And give my place to him.
