He found that many things in life including laundry baskets, being alone and butterflies were very scarey. In time though, he became a much braver boy and has been our pack leader for the past eight years. He helped many foster dogs adjust to home life. He would have laid down his life for the safety of his pack. He would position himself in front of his pack, raise every hair on his body and prepare for loose dogs who would dare to charge us. He even fended off a hooded runner (on a very hot day) early one morning who was running towards a woman with four dogs rather than around us. What a shock it was this past Wednesday to find out Larry had broken his right leg femur. The next day we found out that the broken bone had signs of osteo. Pins and plates to fix his leg were no longer an option. Hind end weakness and other Larry issues made amputation not a good option for Larry's quality of life. We sadly helped Larry cross the bridge to join our other grey angels. Please watch for Trip as osteo will be taking another Russell hound soon. We miss you dearly Larry.
