Guest gmangel12 Posted May 9, 2010 Share Posted May 9, 2010 We had to put down our beautiful Red on sunday morning. She had a stroke sat night and because of her age the doctors felt anything other then putting her to rest would be too hard and painful on her. Her back legs completly stopped working, her heart rate was about 3 times what it normally was, her breathing was so labored and heavy and she was having a hard time seeing us. It seemed like she was not there mentally. Red was 14 years and 4 months old. She was the most gentel, kind, caring, good natured dog ever. All she ever asked for was love, affection and us. She was always there to greet us when we got home, she would get so excited she would jump and spin in circles. She loved taking walks when it was nice out and feeling the sun shine down on her. She had her own futon facing a big window and for every car that would drive by at night she would get so excited and jump up running towards the window thinking her daddy was home. Our neighbors would joke that she was neighboorhood watch and if anyone ever needed to know who did something they could just ask her:-) My husband had her for 10 years and I met her 5 years ago and was proud to call myself her mom. She was the center of our family and took care of us. She leaves behind 2 brothers and 3 sisters who she loved dearly and they loved her as well. There were many cuddle fests on her futon :-) Although the decision that was made was for her, its still heartbreaking not having her here. The house seems empty without her and the 7 of us left feel lost without her. I hope she is in a happy place and we will get to meet up with her someday.
