DevilDog
Worried again I came home for lunch and brought Roscoe on a short walk. Except it wasnt so short. He is moving VERY slow. VERY VERY slow. And he's totally in outer space. He's barely responding to anything i say. Is it the meds? I called my vet, but I'm waiting for a call back. Also, thjis may be totally un-connected, but Roscoe has always had loose skin around his neck. It was always 'elastic-like' though.. 2 days ago (when the eye thing had gotten bad) the skin is sagging. Just hanging there like a turkey gobbler. Could this be some insight to something that might be wrong? case in point Quote Lisa with Finnegan (Nina's Fire Fly) and Sage (Gil's Selma). GreyKarma
Lisa I am not a home right now but the photo I have of him last Sat at the M&G his neck was not that way. I have a feeling he has an infection brewing and not just in his eyes. Will try and check back later and see how he is doing Quote CAROL & Molleigh (Queen Molly)My Angel Girl (Slippy's Molly) ~ Thank you for sending me your namesake ~
Guest trevdog
When will the bloodwork be back? It could be the drugs, but if he's losing weight too, that sounds worrisome. Is he staying hydrated? I know dehydration can cause the baggy skin...
DevilDog
I talked to the vet and the blood work came back normal. Still waiting on the tick-test whatever its called. He told me to take Roscoe off the Doxycycline tonight and see if he improves. I am to call back tomorrow to take the next course of action. Roscoe seems to be drinking the same as he usually does. He's never been a big 'drinker' though. I think i'll get some chicken broth or something similar into him tonight. Quote Lisa with Finnegan (Nina's Fire Fly) and Sage (Gil's Selma). rebeccamcl
Hope things are going better today for Roscoe. I know how hard it is, dealing with a sick/injured dog. (Davis got injured last year just after I moved here. He was on meds for 2 weeks, and did nothing but eat and sleep for 4 days!) Roscoe is such a sweetie, I'm realling hoping/praying he gets better soo n. Quote Rebecca and Manny

DevilDog
Thank you all for the well wishes. It really helps! Here's what we're dealing with now So I got home at about 7, and Roscoe looked terrible. His neck looked saggier and when I touched it, there was a big mass in there. (It was not there at 2:00!!) It was golf ball sized and squishy. It was very tender and he cried when I touched it. I couldn't even get the collar on him! Ok.. off to the vet. I worked myself up in the waiting room and I can't for the life of me remember what the doctor did.. she inspected for wounds, checked blood.. well she says it is a reaction to the doxycycline. So we now have amoxicillin and tramadol.. and benadryl. I'm supposed to put a warm compress on it 3 times a day. He still has the eye drops and vetprofen. He gags randomly... Augh. I feel so lost. Right now Rosce is full of dinner and drugs. He should be passed out but he's not. Edited March 19, 2010 by DevilDog Quote Lisa with Finnegan (Nina's Fire Fly) and Sage (Gil's Selma).
