At The Bridge But Never Fogotten!

R.I.P Harley aka Hi Country Man November 13th, 1998 to Febuary 2nd, 2008.

I know most of you have been following my little fighter's story. I'm sad to say I let him go to the bridge today. We still love him and miss him sooo much! Even though he was only our dog for 3 months he's been in our hearts for 6 years (since the first day James mother brought him home). His kidneys just couldn't handle all the stress, and I couldn't let him suffer from kidney failure. This had to be one of the hardest days, thank god for Cindy and Lori being there helping me through it. I cannot think Rescued Racers enough for everything through this very difficult situation! They definately went steps above and beyond what I could have ever imagined.

I was by his side the whole time the shots were given, I wouldn't have had it any other way. Harley went very peaceful, and I was at ease knowing he was no longer in any sort of pain.

What I will remember most...

I'd come home from work or wherever and Harley always had the same greeting. Head in crotch (I'm sure you know the stance, lol), I'd start off rubbing his ears and I was perfect height for him to walk inbetween my legs. So he would walk real slow until I got to his rear legs then he would take a long pause and stretch so he could have a really good rub down. Sometimes he would come back for another go at it but afterwords he'd follow me to the kitchen for a treat.

I'd also like to thank everyone here for all the support, well wishes, and prayers. It really helped me through this!

The way I will always remember him...Taken back in August of 07 when he came over for a weekend visit.

Thank you for loving him and taking such wonderful care of him. He went to the bridge loved.

Jamie, I've followed your story. I'm so sorry you and he had to say goodbye today. Nothing hurts worse, even when it's the only good thing to do.

I am so sorry; I know it was hard being there with him but you did the right thing. It's not what any of us want to do but his knowing you were there made it easier for him to cross over. Godspeed, sweet Harley...you're young and healthy again.

I am so sorry for your loss. Take comfort in knowing your sweet Harley is at peace, pain free and running once again with the wind. Though the time he spent with you was short, he knew he was well loved.
