  1. I have a walking stick, but have been lax about taking on walks. It is a bit awkward to carry with three dogs, but I need to start again. I had a spray for awhile, but it was slow and clumsy for me to use. I just wish all this wasn't necessary
  2. Encouraging that he is stable! I hope they find the cause soon and it is something treatable or curable.
  3. so happy to hear this update! for the dental-lite I don't know if he could take this with his health issues, but my guys have been using PlaqueOff which really helps keep the tartar and plaque down. Obviously, does not replace a dental, but it really does help if you have a dog that can't go under anesthesia. My friend uses it on her 13 yr old coonhound too, with great results.
  4. very, very scary! I hope you get some good answers from Oregon
  5. hoping for the best for Kili! good news from the cardiologist
  6. I am so sorry this happened for Chevy! I always worry so much about this when I walk the dogs.
  7. I agree with giving your kitty more time, especially since you said she is skittish anyway. I have one cat that still runs (or scuttles) sometimes from room to room, but will come out and be in the same room with the dogs when she feels like it. She doesn't socialize with them, but is comfortable being in the same room. It took some extra "no kitties" to get the dogs not to jump up and start to chase when she runs by, and I have told her over and over, "Fat Ethel, if you didn't run, they wouldn't want to chase you". She will eventually get more comfortable and come out, but you will have to be really on top of things at first to make sure your dog doesn't try to chase her again. and I agree with JJNg, don't take away her food and box, for now she needs them in her safe zone.
  8. My dogs are mostly raw fed (Fletcher all because of his IBD) but the girls get kibble for one meal and they really like the Costco no grain food. It is very similar to TOTW, and about half the price. I don't know if you have a Costco near you, but I found it worth the membership price for the savings on dog food and dog meds. edited to add, they eat the salmon/sweet potato flavor
  9. That photo is ADORABLE! frame-able, calendar worthy, perfect! hope she is feeling better soon
  10. I am so sorry but I am glad you got those extra 29 months
  11. Glad there were no accesses! Sallie came home with some pain meds after her dental, she lost 22 teeth including all of her upper molars and one fang. She took the pain meds in pill pockets just fine, and wanted dinner that same night. Just depends on the dog, but the first 12-24 hrs are the hardest, I think mainly from the anesthetic.
  12. I am so sorry those old mama girls are so special
  13. Make sure you have plenty of old towels on hand. He will probably have some bloody drool, and it is much easier to clean up if you have a bunch of old towels to lay on top of where ever he is sleeping/laying. Hope everything goes well!
  14. Wonderful news! I know how hard it is not to overreact and worry when they are sick, especially as they get older.
  15. I know it is scary, but think how much better he will feel after those bad teeth are out!
  16. I am so sorry Joseph was a very special boy
  17. funny how an infection can be good news!
  18. Poor Miles! hope he does get an infection and heals quickly
  19. Glad he was able to come home for the night, and that he is feeling a little better. Hope you get some answers soon!
