  1. ACE has it's uses, but not for anxiety! My former vet talked me into trying it for Fletcher's fireworks fear. Never again! Valium works best for Fletcher, and Xanax works best for Sallie (thunder AND fireworks ) Both work better that ACE
  2. Glad he is feeling better! :candle the pred works!
  3. I am so sorry that is the hardest gift to give
  4. eeuuw! that is one ugly dude! Looks like they are pretty widespread (including AZ) Not poisonous, but can give a painful "bite". However, I have lived in Phoenix for over 30 yrs and have never seen one.
  5. Lucy I am so sorry I feel like I have "known" Jabari for as long as I have been on GT You will be missed by many Little Man
  6. I guess I should have added, I never found a commercial food that Fletcher can eat either. He has been raw fed for 9 years, which has controlled his IBD just fine, but that is not for everyone.
  7. I am afraid it is just trial and error. I don't think fat percentage is too important unless she has had problems with high fat before, although some of the grain free foods are pretty rich. Look at what is available in your area, check your budget and read the ingredient labels closely! Since she is sensitive to both chicken and eggs, I would try to steer clear of chicken fat as a preservative as well. It is pretty common, and usually not a problem, even with chicken sensitive dogs, but if you can find something without it, all the better. FWIW, turkey and duck may be fine, as well as fish based.
  8. Glad that he seems a little better, and not in pain
  9. I am so glad to hear he is doing better! Just keep hoping they find a cause and can start treatment.
  10. I am so sorry Jabari was special to many people here on GT.
  11. I am so sorry! Poor Leah, and poor you. Every (responsible) dog owners worst nightmare. I hope she heals quickly and doesn't have lasting effects from the attack.
  12. Fletcher started having trouble getting up about a year ago (he just turned 11 in March). He has had arthritis for several years, gradually getting worse, so we have just assumed the arthritis had moved into his back end. What has really helped him is acupuncture and the Chinese herbs he gets from his acupuncture vet. A general pain med (Body Sore) and a specific for hindquarter weakness. He has been on NSAIDs and joint supplements for several years, this is in addition. He actually got to the point of being able to jump on my bed again!
  13. I am glad he doesn't have cancer, but I wish you knew what was causing this.
  14. Great feeling of accomplishment, isn't it Sallie has a hot spot she won't leave alone, so I have been covering it with a non stick pad and vet wrap. It wasn't healing as fast as I thought it should, so I've started putting Manuka honey on it. Wonderful stuff! I change the bandage about once a day.
  15. such a hard decision. I let my first greyhound go when she started having trouble getting around (she was in kidney failure and had stopped eating). I could have waited another week, maybe, but she hated being helped and I decided to let her go before she became helpless. It was very, very hard.
