  1. I know what you mean. I lost Fletcher (11 yr old) three weeks ago, and Molly, also 11, has been a bit off. She is not obviously grieving, they got along fine but weren't close, and I have another greyhound. However, I believe part of her behavior is related to the change in the household, I am certainly still grieving, and I know she picks up on that. She has been doing that panting thing, but I am fairly sure it is related to the heat, even though she doesn't go out for more than a few minutes at a time. She is also getting more wobbly, although she doesn't have corns. I am going to see if her vet can see her next week, just to do a general checkup. You know your dog best, and if you feel there is something off, there is, although it may just be corns and age. It wouldn't hurt to have a checkup done, to ease your mind if nothing else.
  2. it is one of the downsides to having multiple pets. I tell all of mine that only one is allowed to be sick at a time, and they have to wait at least six months between serious illnesses. Now, if I could only find a way to enforce that! Things do seem to come in clumps
  3. A lot of vets will lecture you about raw feeding, and in their defense, many people try it with out taking the trouble to do their research and make sure they have a good balanced diet. They think all they have to do is hand the dog a chicken leg and they are done It sounds like what you are doing works great for your dog, and that is all that matters. Ignore the sub vet!
  4. well, raw feeding was the answer for us but if you don't want to go completely raw, have you tried changing his main protein? (maybe you've already done this) Lamb was too rich for mine.
  5. I hope the fireworks have stopped for the night and Ruby is calmer. We had a bad couple of hours, but things got quiet a little after ten, and the neighborhood idiots aren't as bad this year. Sallie is finally sleeping. Last year the Xanax really seemed to help, this year not so much. I have come to hate fireworks!
  6. Poor Henry, that sounds painful! I hope the ABX knock it out, and the pain meds keep him comfortable.
  7. I started using a WWW harness on Molly after she hurt her neck a couple of years ago, it has been great!
  8. sounds good! hope Cash makes a complete recovery and it never comes back
  9. Poor Thunder, he does look pretty spaced out!
  10. Frustrating to not have an answer, but glad that she is doing better. Hope she can recover completely, even if you never find the cause
  11. Wow, what a day! Great news from his ultrasound, but so scary for him to pass out like that. I hope things improve from now on.
  12. I am so sorry we always wish we could have just one more something
  13. hope this is "just" a nasty infection and they will, as you say, kick it's butt
  14. What an adorable boy, I am so sorry you are right 9 years or 90, it is never enough
  15. I am so sorry I know that stubborn attitude all too well
  16. Not sure what iliopsoas is, but sure beats cancer! So glad to hear her rds were clear!
  17. Fletcher got acupuncture and was on Chinese herbs for pain and hindquarter weakness, probably the same ones Joe has been on. I found the combined treatment helped him a lot, but as time went on, he did get more wobbly, just a natural progression because of age. I hope the blood work is good, and his limp turns out to be just more arthritis. Sounds like the weight loss might not be significant either.
  18. hoping for something simple, soft tissue, arthritis!
  19. I am so sorry I know the feeling all too well
  20. Glad you got some answers, and it is treatable. Hope she starts feeling better soon!
  21. Yes, they can take Pepcid indefinitely, and you can use the generic, which is much cheaper! You could try the extra cookie first and see if that solves the problem
