I am so sorry there are no words to make it better
  2. What a handsome, wonderful, special, unique dog he was! I am so sorry
  3. Sounds like a puzzle! Thyroid can have a wide variety of symptoms, so it could be that even if he doesn't have the typical ones. Definitely sounds like some low grade, multi-symptom "off". How's that for a diagnosis FWIW I have been feeding raw for 10 yrs, and I have had several dogs that didn't do well on the commercial raw mixes. And some that did fine, of course. I always blamed the veggies, but since I only use it as a supplement of special occasion, like after a dental, I never really investigated. If things don't improve, I would guess more tests are the next thing.
  4. My raw fed dogs love them! I use the freeze dried for treats
  5. Oh no, I am so sorry! Aston was so special
  6. How is Sammi today? She probably will be stiff and sore for a couple of days. Fletcher would slip and fall, and it would take a day or two for him to get back to normal.
  7. I am so sorry, she was a beautiful girl
  8. awesome list! I will copy it for (sadly) the next time I need it. I would also add, stinky canned cat food
  9. When mine have been reluctant to eat because of other serious health issues, I found I had to change things every couple of days. They would eat something for a few meals, then refuse it and I would try something else. An anti-nausea med like cerenia might help too.
  10. it's a slow process, but so glad to hear he is better!
  11. Not to highjack the thread, but be very very careful with toads, some are poisonous and can seriously harm your dog. Back to the regularly scheduled thread I don't think there is any way you can train him not to chase, not 100% reliably at least. Your best bet is to learn to be vigilant about your (his) surroundings. The local cats and other wildlife will learn pretty quickly to stay out of your yard, mostly. You might try teaching him to "drop it" but that might just end up leaving you with an injured animal that you have to deal with. It can be hard for us humans, but it is just natural for them.
  12. I am so sorry Pam, Poodle will be remembered by many on GT for a long, long time :f_white :f_white
  13. Pam it is never easy to say good bye, but some are extra, extra hard. I know losing Poodle will be one of those. I wish there was something I could say to make it better.
  14. I am so sorry you lost your little companion
  15. hang in there! the first couple of days are the worst, as I am sure you know. As long as he is drinking, I wouldn't worry too much about him not eating at first. Well, actually, if it were me and my dog, I would be worrying, but you know what I mean. I hope he will eat a little for you tonight.
  16. Sometimes you can transition off the special food once their gut has settles down, sometimes not. Likely you will have to find a limited ingredient food of some sort, and they are usually expensive.
