  1. Sallie doesn't have IBD, but she has developed some tummy issues as she has gotten older, and has been taking Thorne Research Bacillus Coagulans VET, which says "maintains proper gut flora". It has worked very well for her, although it did take 3-4 weeks for it to become fully effective. It doesn't look like it has any animal protein. Fletcher had IBD, but I never found a probiotic that really helped him. He did benefit from a dose of Manuka honey in his food.
  2. I think the only way to tell is the elimination process. Charley sometimes does the "flea bite" thing, and I know she doesn't have fleas. She also has a gurgley tummy sometimes, and gas (but no smell! I know, odorless greyhound gas, call Ripley's Believe or not) I have found one small add-in in her food that seems to be the difference so I guess I'll be leaving it out. Start with any treats or add-ins, and go from there.
  3. I think she could still be around after three years with cardiomyopathy, but I can't image her going three years with no symptoms, heart disease is always (I think) progressive. that she was misdiagnosed! Whatever the case, great that she is doing well
  4. What a beautiful story about a beautiful dog! If ever there was a "meant to be" I am so sorry for your loss, and your parent's loss
  5. I am so sorry it is heartbreaking when you know it is time and have to let them go
  6. Try giving her a raw turkey neck about once a week. Most dogs love them, and they help clean the teeth. It won't work miracles, but it will be a big help.
  7. I am so sorry you lost your special girl
  8. Glad to hear things are slowly improving! I can't remember if you have tried these already, but if he likes bread & starch, oatmeal and pasta might be two more things to try!
  9. I am afraid it has become very expense recently, it used to be a cheap drug. I don't currently need it, so I can't help except to suggest you try several online compounding pharmacies. Glad it wasn't cancer!
  10. I am so sorry, he was a real cutie! I love the picture of him eating peas It is sad that their lives are so short
  11. Scrambled eggs, green tripe (the canned is easier to find & feed, and stinkier), sardines, bread, canned cat food, meat baby food. These are all things I have tried and had some success with over the years.
  12. Oh. My. Drop dead gorgeous If he wasn't half a world away I would fight you for him! In addition to all the changes he has been through, he may be reluctant to eat raw if his teeth are hurting him. He will probably come around in a few days. My Princess Molly wouldn't eat raw at first, because the Princess never liked anything new, and had to have time to adjust, but she did.
