  1. Sweep is the same, 4.5 years after she arrived.
  2. Not to be an alarmist, but has her heart been checked recently? Between the murmur and the coughing fits I'd be worried about congestive heart failure, which can cause very brief fainting spells. I just lost a cat to this last week, so that's where my mind immediately went.
  3. Sweep pretty much only runs when she's loose in our fenced backyard and wearing only her tag collar, so I can't say for sure, but there's been no chafing in her three daily walks for the year or so we've been using the harness. The part that goes under the "armpits" is velvet, so that helps! (I see Cynthia just mentioned that too as I was typing this!) BTW, Sweep's tag collar is also velvet and all her neck fur grew back once we switched to it. We got it on Etsy. We also have and can recommend the 2Hounds velvet jingle-free tag collar. (Sweep has a ridiculous collar collection!)
  4. We have the Freedom No Pull Harness from 2 Hounds and are very happy with it. Sweep is a little over 60 lbs and hers is a large.
  5. I hope the drops will help. Otis is so handsome.
  6. What a beautiful boy. I am so sorry it was his time to go. Rest well, Stan.
  7. Look who discovered the couch! Cassie is doing well--she has lost some weight (despite eating 5 cups a day) and still has mild bronchitis, but her heart is smaller and her bloodwork came back normal. She is due for her second heartworm shot in 3 weeks.
  8. Heartbreaking. I am so sorry for your loss and will keep you all in my thoughts. Rest well, Gracie.
  9. Sweep tolerated Duralactin well, but unfortunately we did not notice any improvement with it.

    Ups

I'm so sorry for your loss. Rest well, UPS.
  11. What a terrible shock. I'm so sorry. Rest well, Gallo.
  12. Thanks for the update; glad Harley's surgery went smoothly. Best wishes for a full recovery!
  13. I recently bought Sweep a cooling mat and have been very impressed with how quickly she stops panting after coming in from a walk. It might be worth a shot with Max. The tricky part is just getting her to lay on it, since it's not the soft, cushy bed she's used to. I usually end up putting it on top of another bed. Here's the one we have; these are the largest sizes I found and the Medium works for Sweep, who's 62 lbs. Amazon's pricing seems to be wonky today (I assure you I didn't pay $300 for it!), so here's a Chewy link too.
  14. Poor boy. It definitely could be the odd angle from the splint, and/or sometimes being manipulated for x-rays and standing around for lengthy periods at the vet's office can make them especially sore the next day. Hope you can get him on a med schedule that keeps him comfortable.
  15. Oh, wow, that's a lot to deal with after just three weeks together! Best wishes for a smooth surgery and full recovery. Please keep us posted. Harley is so lucky to have you!
  16. No experience, but have you checked out Grassmere's page on it? Sorry you're facing more houndie toe woes!
  17. Welcome and congrats from Nashville! Ray is gorgeous!
  18. I'm sorry you had to go through that worry (been there, done that!) but glad you can breathe a sigh of relief now.
  19. Wow, that is scary looking. So glad Allen is improving, and I hope he is back to 100% soon. Thanks for sharing this!
  20. Wonderful update...keeping all fingers and toes crossed here!
