  1. Just checking in to see how Honor is doing. Has he seen the chiropractor?
  2. It's been a few years since I've used it, but when Sweep was newly adopted I used the free version of the Presence app. I set up my iPad as the camera at home and I monitored her on my iPhone. According to the website, it now works with Android devices as well.
  3. Sounds like he is doing really well to me! Do you have an app on your phone where you could watch him when you're away? Might give you peace of mind. I work from home, so we are never gone for more than 4 hours either. Sweep often watches us leave and is there watching at the door when we get home, but I'm quite sure she's on her bed for most of the time in between. Do you have any pictures of Ollie? We'd love to see him!
  4. My condolences to all who helped and loved her along the way. Rest well, Egypt.
  5. I'm so sorry for the loss of your beautiful girl. Rest well, Princess.
  6. I'm so sorry for your loss. What a lovely tribute. Rest well, beautiful girl.
  7. Hope she will be back with you tonight and able to enjoy a weekend resting and recovering at home.
  8. What Cynthia said! I worried so much before adopting Sweep (mainly about how she'd do with our two cats). She had just turned three and had been fostered for a few months. All went very smoothly and I felt silly for wasting so much mental energy. If you hit some bumps, you'll find all the info you need here and your adoption group will always be a resource. Please keep us posted--and we'd love to see pictures, of course.
  9. We love you, Taylor. Glad to hear you are still being a chowhound and a flirt. Hugs to all of you.
  10. Instead of treats, you could try setting aside a little of her dinner (maybe 1/3) to give her before bedtime. A few sources for jammies: Downtown Houndz, No Nude Hounds, and Houndtime. Etsy probably has several options too. I think "tucking her in" with her blanket at bedtime is a good test before you buy any though.
  11. She's still very new, so it could just be that, but a couple of other ideas: do you give her a cookie or two just before bed? Maybe she'd settle for longer with a little something in her belly. Also, you're in NC, which I imagine has had just as mild a winter as we've had in TN this year, but could she be cold? Does she have blankets to nest in on her bed, or have you considered jammies for her?
  12. No advice unfortunately, just tons of sympathy. Thinking of you and Bella.
  13. Great news! What a huge relief. I am a little confused on one point: I thought you'd been giving him Gabapentin, which does target nerve pain, rather than an anti-inflammatory. For what it's worth, Sweep's limp did not respond at all to Gabapentin either, but she does well with Previcox (NSAID). Regardless, I hope rest and the right meds do the trick for Honor.
  14. Sweet, silly boy. What did you end up doing for the ulcer?
  15. What a gorgeous boy. I'm so sorry for your loss. Rest well, Charley.
  16. You have been through this so recently and your worry is totally understandable, but there are so many non-cancer things it could be. Sweep, also 7, has an ongoing front left leg limp that stumped many vets and specialists for almost a year. They finally isolated the pain to one toe, most likely the result of an old racing injury. She gets an NSAID when she needs it; sometimes that's daily and sometimes she goes many weeks without. Nothing has ever showed on x-rays, and she had zero mobility issues for the first 3 years we had her. It just seemed to "flare up" with age. It could very well be something similar at work here. Please try not to assume the worst, but I agree with others about getting the x-rays sooner than later. You and Honor will be in my thoughts.
  17. Oh, Bea, and after 5 on a Friday evening! Get well soon, sweet girl.
  18. I'm so sorry for your loss. Rest well, Darren.
