  1. So happy to hear he is home and on the road to recovery. Praying it is a fast one for him.
  2. Sending lots of prayers for Jake and for you. Sounds like if he hit his leg that hard, there is no reason why it wouldn't break. Hoping they can patch that leg back together.
  3. Hotdog water ? What is that and how do you make it ?
  4. Ruby is almost 9, and we can definitely see her slowing down. It scares me. I have not been giving her any supplements, so I am going to look into the ones cleptogrey suggested. It is hard to watch the decline.
  5. I am so sorry for your loss. I have always loved his name.
  6. Welcome, she is gorgeous. My husband and I were in San Tan Valley about 2 weeks ago looking at houses. How long have you lived there ? Do you love it ?
  7. Sending good thoughts and prayers that all goes well with Ryder's teeth cleaning. I know nothing about pain meds, but am just about ready to try something for Ruby on a daily basis, so will be following.
  8. Science Hill makes one, but I believe you buy it at a vets office and not a store. Could be wrong about where to get it.
  9. When we adopted we had custody of our 1 year old grandson. We had a couple of greys picked out that we were interested in, but the ladies that ran the group told us there was one dog that had been raised with 4 small kids, so we adopted Ruby. She was the sweetest, most patient dog ever, and my grandson used to lay on her bed with her to nap each day. We never had any issues. Fast forward 6 years, Ruby is getting grumpy in her old age and does not tolerate our newest grandchild as well. We have been trying to teach her to leave Ruby alone, and to pet her only when awake and standing. It is a process. Let the adoption agency help you choose, as they know the temperaments. Good Luck !!!
  10. I am so sorry that it was time for Pearl to go. Treasure your memories.
  11. I am so sorry you and Diana are struggling. You are in my thoughts and prayers.
  12. Good thoughts and prayers for Otis. I was going through this last week so I understand you being nervous. All will be well............
  13. Yes she is doing much better today. No vomiting and she was pretty perky. I was going to take her in to the vet today if she was not better. Thank you for asking.........
  14. Ruby has had a rough day today. I thought all was well and she was going to breeze through the anesthesia after effects, but not so lucky. I woke up to her in her crate covered in vomit. I did not hear her at all, and she was sound asleep when I got up. Pretty sad. I got her cleaned up and washed all her bedding. I gave her a very small amount of boiled white rice couple hours later and she acted like she was starving. About 4:30 I heard a weird noise and went to check on her, and she had vomited all the rice and some green yucky junk. Cleaned that bed and her toys up and did not feed her tonight. I called the vet to make sure this was normal and they assured me it was. She has had some water tonight. She has been very quiet and sleepy tonight and is sound asleep in her crate for the night. Hoping we have a better day tomorrow.
  15. I am sorry............sending hugs for you and your sweet girl.
  16. Ruby came home this afternoon around 4:00, and when I walked in all I could hear was her whining.........LOUDLY !!!! I asked how long she had been doing that, and they said just since I walked in. Hope that is true, I have never heard her be so loud. Anyway, out she came, prancing and walking in a straight line. I was thinking she was going to act like a drunk old man or be wobbly and weak...........but no, my girl was raring to go home. I put her outside for a bit when we got home and she was sniffing her food dish pretty hard. They told me not to feed her until tomorrow morning. She seemed very normal and I ended up giving her a piece of bread before bed tonight. I couldn't stand the thought of her starving all night. She has all her teeth and they are very pretty and white. The vet said she had a lot of tartar, but no decay. So happy that it is over and all is well. Thank you for all the good thoughts for her today.
  17. Ruby is at the vet and will be getting her dental this afternoon. I am trying to keep myself busy, and have sewn 2 Mermaid Tails to stay occupied.. haha. She has been acting so weird the last few days and I talked to the vet, who didn't seem to be too worried. Her labs all looked great and she is getting the IV before the procedure. Any good thoughts and prayers you can spare for my girl today would be appreciated. Thank you
  18. Thank you for the link, and I did read it again. The issue I see with that is, if we did not pet Ruby while lying down, she would never get petted. She lays down even when you call her to you, she is that lazy. She has always seemed to enjoy us sitting by her bed to pet her and I know that the baby did not hurt her. Both times there was a problem, I was watching and her mom was sitting there. Hopefully it won't happen again, but we will be watching the baby and Ruby a little closer from now on. We certainly do not want the baby to get bit, or to have Ruby labeled as a biter.
  19. Thank you for the comments. Ruby did have a complete physical just a couple weeks ago to make sure all was well for her dental. I wonder if it might have something to do with her teeth, or the fact that she is getting arthritis in her hind end. I do know the baby didn't hurt her or fall on her, but I know when I hurt, I don't want anyone near me either. She is having her dental on Wednesday, so if it is her teeth, that will be taken care of.
  20. Ruby is now 8 1/2 years old and seems to be getting a bit grouchy in her old age. The last time my daughter came to visit, her baby (9 mos.) liked to crawl to Ruby and touch her nose or her ear, or her mom would help her pet her very lightly. She always had her mama nearby, so we know nothing happened to Ruby to cause her pain. No fast movements. After about 2 minutes of this, and my daughter petting her, she snapped her teeth in the direction of the baby. This visit the baby crawled onto her bed and sat down, not touching Ruby at all. Ruby let out a low growl and the baby was removed. We have no idea why this is happening, and of course, are worried that she might snap or bite the baby. She was not allowed to be around the baby the rest of the visit. What is different is that Ruby came to live with us when our grandson was 1, and he would crawl on her, sleep on her bed with her, etc. Our 4 year old granddaughter can also be around her and on her bed, and Ruby has never shown any reaction at all. When we got Ruby, we were told she would be good with kids because she was raised with several of them. I know a lot of greys have space aggression, and I am wondering if she has all of a sudden developed this ? Why the change ? could she be sick and we don't know it ? Does this sound like she is in pain ? We will definitely be keeping the baby away from her, but it scares me that she will get too close and get hurt. Ideas of what might be going on ?
