  1. I keep temporary or permanent collections of things with me in a bag as I move around the house. For example, today's "necessaries" bag includes cell phone, portable landline phone, lots of extra tissues since wherever I choose to sit will be the ONE place that I don't have a box of tissues, cough drops, sticky note pad, pen, etc. Yesterday I also had the dog grooming bag (brushing glove, wipes, clippers, nail first aid, treats). The grooming bag is its own trash bag. When the sunlight reached the living room windows, I began grooming the dogs. Excess fur, nail wipes, and bits of nail dropped back in the bag. But when I reached in to find the treats to reward the dogs at the end of the process, I found loose tissues, sticky notes, etc., all now covered with fur and nail tips. Moral: Look before you trash.
  2. Has Annie lured welcomed any more kidlets to reading time?
  3. That makes me feel so sad and so strong at the same time.
  4. Hard for me to believe that Doolin isn't perfect and that this isn't a vile rumor started by cats.
  5. How beautiful! And that bunny fur matches exactly with your rug -- you'll never have to do an extra vacuuming. How did you find each other?
  6. Maybe she was named after Domino Sugar 'cause she's sweet? How did Odin and Shine get along? (Shine was my Secret Santa recipient one year, and I think of her fondly.)
  7. Sweep and Richard probably take turns taking non-harmful whacks at each other. Richard was sure one magnificently handsome cat.
  8. In humans, the ability to roll the tongue like that is mostly genetic. I wonder if it's the same with dogs.
  9. Trip sounds wonderful. Not that I know much about most of your stops, but even the names sound terrific.
  10. Have a wonderfully sad and grateful holiday. His spirit will be with you, every step. Sniffaris -- How you met reminds me of my Romie, whom you never met. I asked at the kennel who needed a home the most, and was told, That big quiet one. There's not a thing wrong with him, but people just the dark fur and the white on his muzzle and think he's just an old black dog, and walk on by. Buddy might have been giving you a test to see if you could tell that he was truly made out of gold.
  11. Oh, Buddy. So beautiful, so smart, so much his own dog. And he loved you so much. But he did it his way. Be good to yourselves, in his honor.
  12. Yes, yes it is. And I think this is the best that a formal (as distinguished from a spontaneous, solitary) religious experience can do for us -- to have someone else's words or music cut through the snarls of our own everyday life to reach the living joy of connection inside each one of us.
  13. Way to go, Budsterino! Keep 'em guessing. And enjoy that delicious dogfood! Please give him an extra special hug from us.
  14. Dear Jeter had sleep aggression. I did not allow him on my bed. I did allow him up on the sofa with me for a few hours, especially in the mornings, because he was not in deep sleep then. I never touched him while he was sleeping, at any time. I had him get down before he went into deep sleep. He was the most affectionate dog ever when not startled when asleep. But when that happened, he went into full Cujo mode. Not advancing on me, but ferocious growling with teeth bared. And he didn't apologize once he was awake, either. I would have been afraid to have him on my bed.
  15. FiveRoooooers' Cletus would give Buddy a chicken-chaser's high five four
  16. If you're interested in a sighthound specialist consultant, I think all of us here who have used him would enthusiastically recommend Dr Couto. He works via e-mail and shared computer files. He responds quickly. He's primarily a veterinary oncologist and hematologist, but also consults on other diseases. If it weren't for Dr Cuoto, Milo would have been dead now instead of enjoying walks, meals, and snuggling. My vet appreciated working with Dr Couto. https://www.coutovetconsultants.com/
