Willa has osteo [Update: amp 8/1]

Willa Waggles! -
I'm an experienced Happy Tail bandager. Jeter graduated from New Boy Crate first day with a spectacular happy tail. He had a lot more fur on his tail than Gelsey does, but his tail was more like a club than Gelsey's whiplike appendage, and was a true helicopter tail. It took months to nurse Jeter's tail back to health. With Gelsey, I often can't even find where she broke it open, but I know she did because of the tiny flecks of blood all over the kitchen.
-
Gelsey has super-short fur and a long whip of a tail on which she frequently opens up wounds with aerobic wagging. I'm thinking of painting the kitchen cabinets red so her blood won't show up as much. This morning, in her pre-breakfast celebration, she discovered a new skill. That tail must have accidentally entered the airspace of a cabinet door handle, and pulled the door open! She looked a little surprised at first, then quickly sniffed the inside of the cabinet. Alas, no food. Bummer. If I see her studying the dogfood pantry cabinet door, I am in trouble.

He left on his own terms, with a belly full of chicken. May your version of the rainbow bridge involve stinky fish and a limitless supply of cat toys. Godspeed, Richard. Willa -- you are AWESOME! -

Willa has osteo [Update: amp 8/1]

This brought back memories of trying to stuff food into Jeter while surrounded by two drooling hyenas,* who would rush in and snatch the morsel right out of Jeter's mouth unless I beat them back. I had to shut them up in a bedroom. Sounds like Willa had a refreshing nosh and is now resting and gathering up energy for her next exciting adventure. Hope her 'rents can get some rest, too. * changing hyena metaphor to African painted dogs, which evidently have an 80% hunting success rate -

My background is working in healthcare, and it's considered bad luck to wish someone a quiet night. Like how you tell an actor to break a leg. So we'll just continue thinking of you all. -

Been thinking of Miss Willa all yesterday and today. Sending extra pets to Richard. And encouraging Doolin, hoping he will adapt as easily as possible. to all. -

Mark, Mark, Mark -- it's time to update your fragrance signature. Ixnay on the Hai Karate and Old Spice school -- there's lots of colognes designed for males that will make a modern ladyhound swoon instead of choke and cough. Some suggestions: Cool Water by Davidoff Catwalk by Tigi ( includes must-have hair fur products such as curlz rock amplifier) Club de Nuit Intense by Armaf and Drakkar Noir by Guy Laroche, both with packaging suitable for a black hound Suggestions for some of the other handsome GT fellows: Burberry London or Burberry Brit for our English chaps and CK One by Calvin Klein for Clark Kent! But Mark, we think the best choice for you is Exceptional - Because You Are Milo (who prefers to roll in dead raccoon) and Gelsey (bacon spritzer), fragrance consultants -

Should I Get A Second Greyhound?
EllenEveBaz replied to katt's topic in Training and Behavior discussion
Go for it! I always say it's definitely 2x the expense to add a second hound, but 0x more trouble and 4x more fun. And it certainly assuaged my guilty feelings when I left for work each day, knowing that they provided companionship for each other even if all they did was sleep. I have only had 2 who became a bonded pair, but all the others have gotten along and I think enjoyed having another dog to do dog things with. A second grey may help your girl get over her car fixation. Either that, or you'll be buying a lot more steak. -

Milo and Gelsey have told me they'll need extra rations to give them strength for moral support backandforthing. They plan to start first thing tomorrow morning (Monday). -
Sundrop and Gim, warmest thoughts to you and your pups on this journey. Thanks from all of us for doing this. We know it's not just for Tessie, but for all of our precious dogs (and maybe us humans, in the future). Rachel -- The anxiety!

Toodles Dropped By To Say ...
EllenEveBaz replied to GreyPoopon's topic in Cute and Funny things Greyhounds do
Look at those beautiful eyes and sweet, sweet face! Happiest of birthdays, Toodles, and we hope you get lots and lots of treats and special walks. Keep that fluffy white whippersnapper in line. -
Such a handsome hound, especially that classic profile. How have you been doing this long, hard week? Reminds me of a story from some folks whose adoption program picked out the hound for you and delivered it to your house. "From the moment he walked in the door, it was love at first sight. We fell in love with him, and he fell in love with our leather couch." Logan the feng shoe practitioner I hope that somehow, some way, his spirit will be able to run to you again.

My heart breaks for you. -
My black dog would get areas with brownish cast off and on. Usually in the summers. It happened more as he got older.

That girl can have a good time doing anything.

Oh, no -- Rob! I'm so sorry! Sudden, severe illness is its own, particular nightmare. I'm not an experienced medical issue person so have no theories on the causes, although it's hard to think that the nail played any major role. I made a similar decision for my first greyhound, Eve, who was also 13 years old and in seemingly good shape. I hope you find the same comfort that I found in thinking later that all the grief and guilt I felt was partly a burden I lifted from Eve and took onto myself. If I had left her overnight in the e-vet, alone and unable to move, that would have been so much worse than my second-guessing the decision. You must be feeling terrible now, emotionally. But Logan is feeling no pain or difficulty breathing and is not scared. Eve gave my hand a lick as we waited for the last sedative to take effect. I always thought that was her reassuring me that she was okay. Every time you go for a walk, Logan's spirit and memory will be with you.
