  1. Ten years ago this evening changed my life forever. II got a call 10 years ago yesterday saying my greyhound was on his or her way to me. The next evening I got a call asking me to come to near Doylestown to pick up my cat-safe greyhound. Until I reached the adoption coordinator's home, I had no idea whether my greyhound was male or female, the age, or color. All I knew was I was getting a cat-safe greyhound. When I reached her home, I met 2 brindle boys. One of those boys was Magic. For 9.5 years, he was my best buddy. We went through so much - some good, some bad. We enjoyed 5 Greyhounds in Gettysburg, walks, trips to a flea market, and some meet and greets. I've missed my Bridge Angel everyday for the past four months. He showed his mischievous side 2.5 months ago, when he led me to Joy. She's been doing her best to heal my broken heart. I still love you and miss you. Thanks for sending Joy to me.
  2. She got most of the bag of those bones a week or so earlier and I got a "vittle vault" for her treats. This was the empty bag that I hadn't thrown out yet.
  3. Joy is a wonderful girl. Her primary issue is with resource guarding but only when she steals something. If she has her bedtime bone, I can walk around her and she ignores me. However, if she steals something or gets into something she's not supposed to have, such as the bag from her bedtime bones, she growls and snarls to prevent my taking it from her. Does anyone have any suggestions to deal with this? Thanks.
  4. It turns out that Joy is quite unique among greyhounds. Instead of a negative blood type, she's positive so she could not donate blood. I called the vet to let them know and asked them to feel free to call me if they every needed a positive blood type for a transfusion. She is getting the cookie I got her anyway. She was so good today.
  5. Joy has had 2 rounds of Sentinel and she's been fine. I hope Winnie feels better soon.
  6. Joy is donating blood for the first time. This is the first time I've had a dog who has donated blood. Is there anything I need to know? I'm sure Penn Vet will give me care instructions.

  12. Hi and welcome from Pennsylvania. As you can see from my signature, I had a boy, Magic, who was also my first greyhound.
  13. I got a Vittles Vault. So far so good. Now to deal with her getting into the trash.

  16. I'm beginning to think that Joy is a brilliant greyhound. Her food bowls have a storage area underneath and she has successfully got into her food stored there. More recently, her food is in a closed drawer. Over the last couple of days, she has successfully opened the drawer and gotten to her food. I placed a frying pan lid on the bag this morning and she got it anyway. Currently, her bag of food is in my car. The top of the basement stairs isn't an option since someone inevitably leaves the basement door open. Does anyone have any suggestions?
  17. Welcome Coopernikis. You have a greyt home with 2 greyt sisters.
  18. Joy seemed to have no issues with her treats. Apparently her poop last night was dark and white.
  19. My silly girl, Joy, got a hold of a bag of dog treats. It was my fault that she got them. The treats are vanilla yogurt shaped into balls (sort of like chocolate malt balls) and there probably no more than 18 or so balls left in the package. I doubt there should be a problem but was wondering if I should even remotely be concerned. She's not getting supper tonight but I will be giving her a little pumpkin and rice just in case. I'm more upset because these treats are delicious and I like to eat them too.
  20. Nancy, I'm sorry Emma had to leave you. Gallop free Emma
  21. I live in Chalfont and work in Montgomeryville (at Land's End in the mall). I adopted Joy 3 weeks ago. She is 2 years old and quite energetic.
