  1. Could you add Gypsy. She was a therapy dog. She was the hound of a friend.
  2. She's sweet! Donna, please keep us informed of her progress both medically and adoption.
  3. Run free Duffy! My sympathies to BevD and Marc
  4. I take Joy's muzzle with me to the vet and to get her toenails dremeled although she's never used them there. She also wears it at large greyhound gatherings as she sometimes gets snarky when she becomes overwhelmed in crowds. I know someone whose hound wears her muzzle because she doesn't like dogs getting in her face. Slightly off topic but I've had people try to tell me that the dogs who wear head halters wear them because they bite. I simply correct them and tell them it's because the dog pulls.
  5. for Twiggy. Wendy, you and Twiggy are inspirations to all of us.
  6. . Maggie was a sweet girl. I'm sure Magic was waiting at the Bridge to welcome her. Run free sweet Maggie.
  7. Tricia, Burke and Holly, I'm sorry Murray had to leave you. He fought the good fight. Run free sweet Murray.
  8. Magic was never officially diagnosed with LP but the vet thought it was possible. He had back-end issues as well. I first noticed Magic's symptoms with panting and clearing his throat as well as the trouble finding his voice when barking. I didn't notice anything after his occasional runs or when he was excited. Magic was about 12 when I first noticed his symptoms. to you and Percy
  9. Barb and Tick, I'm sorry for your loss. Run Free Sweet Mac
  10. Anne, I'm sorry Spriet had to leave you. It's hard to let them go. from Carol and Joy
  11. Breeze was the first WFUBCC dog I met at Gettysburg. Her coloring made it easy recognize. I think she tried to do her part in healing my heart in April by letting me walk her. I just let her go where she felt like going, which was to the ice cream social table. Run free beautiful Breeze. to Kathy, Jim, Beka, and Ivy. Carol and Joy
  12. Joy did well at the vet. Her blood test was fine. Her creatinine was high by normal standards (2.1) but the vet said that greyhounds' creatinine is notoriously high. They will forward her numbers to Dr. Couto. Apparently another dog came in recently who had eaten a mushroom and didn't survive because his/her people didn't get him/her there quick enough.
  13. Joy has a follow up blood test today after her adventures with a mushroom and raisins. I'm not overly concerned but would like to forward the results to Dr. Couto. Does anyone have his email address? I'm hoping my vet will do it and cc me. If not, I'll email them to him. Thanks.
  14. Joy seems fine this morning. She ate normally. Her poop was firm. I was outside and when I came in, she bounced around like she normally does. The vet said that if she was going to need more treatment, it would be before the weekend.
  15. Joy at 2 bags of raisins this afternoon so off we went to the vet. Based on the number of raisins she threw up, they think she may have eaten them within an hour before I got home. I do have a question: Are organic raisins more or less toxic than regular raisins? She actually ate organic raisins. A certain little miss will be getting a stool guard this weekend.
  16. I'm glad Murray's prognosis is good but sorry you went through all of that.
  17. I've been getting rid of them too. I've forced her to wear her muzzle outside since Saturday to prevent it. On a kind of unrelated note, Miss Joy caught a bird this morning. She didn't leap so it must have been on the ground and couldn't get airborne in time. I thought it was a squirrel but I saw feathers on her muzzle. I guess my little minx has some prey drive. The hot and humid weather must have suppressed her interest in chasing squirrels, birds, etc.
  18. Update, Joy is still doing well. She has a follow-up appointment on 10/17 for a blood test to check her liver and kidney values. She's eating like normal and acting normal. In fact, she was jumping on me and playing with me before she ate. Yesterday morning she almost caught a squirrel on 2 occasions. Apparently, she also nearly caught one yesterday afternoon too. The vet said she would most likely be OK because I got her there so quickly. I just saw the post about The Rock's dog. That's sad. I feel fortunate to have seen Joy eat the mushroom and called the vet and took her in right away.
  19. Joy ate a wild mushroom in the yard this afternoon. I took her off to the vet where they induced vomiting and got the whole mushroom. She's fine tonight. She doesn't appear to have vomited from the time we got home until I got home from work. Nor was there any sign of diarrhea. The vet thought she would be fine since I got her there quickly (within about 30 minutes). She ate dinner like normal. I gave her a little less and added some Firm Up (a pumpkin supplement) to her supper as a preventative measure. Does anyone have any experience with mushroom eating? If she were going to get sick, would it be quickly or maybe 12 or more hours later? ETA: When I tried to grab Joy's collar to kick the mushroom away and then get her in the house, she snarked and growled at me. If she had bitten me and I went to the doctor, would they have to report a dog bite from my own dog?
  20. Congratulations on Jules! He is quite the handsome fellow.
