  1. Poor Miss Maggie. I would suggest the vet sooner rather than later especially due to location.
  2. Another update: My housemate took Magic to the vet today. She thinks his toe area may have an infection. He's on Cephalexin and Rimadyl. Of course, when I talked to her, she wanted to do x-rays if the infection isn't gone and the swelling down in 2 weeks. She said it could be a tumor. This came on rather suddenly (last Friday) and was accompanied by the seemingly minor cut around the area where the nail meets the foot. Is that possible especially with osteo? Now, I'm going to fret for 2 weeks.
  3. Update: Magic slept downstairs last night and was very good. The injury may actually be a toenail problem. When my housemate was wiping his feet, she noticed that one of his toenails was loose. The vet didn't notice it nor did I. I'm going to call this morning to see if he should go back to the vet or just let it heal naturally.
  4. Magic has a relatively minor cut on his foot near one of his nails. He has trouble putting weight on it when walking. Anyway, last night he came upstairs but this morning I can't get him to come down. Does anyone have any suggestions to get him to come down? He came down yesterday twice. It took some coaxing but he eventually did. Even coaxing hasn't helped. I can't lift and carry a 75 lb dog. I'm going to try to enlist some help to maybe carrying him like a sofa or mattress if necessary. I don't know if it makes a difference but the stairs are hardwood. Needless to say, I'm going to make him stay downstairs even if I have to sleep on the floor next to him.
  5. I had Magic at the vet this morning about his problem (turned out it was a cut - nothing too serious). Anyway, he thinks Magic's groaning could be arthritis and suggested I keep doing what I'm doing - glucosamine supplement.
  6. Magic, who just turned 10, has been groaning when he lays down and as he stretches while laying especially since the cold set in. He doesn't when he gets up or stretches while standing. On a side note, yesterday, I noticed he was stiff upon getting up especially in his one leg where quite a bit of muscle was removed after he was attacked a few years ago. I'm not sure if he wiped out in the snow yesterday because he was fine in the morning. There's no swelling and he puts weight on the leg and he did the stairs just fine. It just appears to be stiffness.
  7. Prayers from Carol and Magic who know what you're going through. Magic promises to keep you company tomorrow.
