Does anyone know why some dogs have dew claws and some don't? Or do all dogs have them and just some breeders have them taken off?

I am so sorry to hear this. I let my greyhound Peace go 4 days after her cancer was confirmed. bone cancer pain is the worst and the drugs can only take the edge off. Spoil her, make a bucket list, let her eat anything she wants. My greatest fear was of her breaking her wrist so I could not ask her to stay any longer. I talked to Peace thru an animal communicator- Latifa at Animals Can Talk. Gave me great comfort and I was able to send her off as she wished, with the vet tech of her choice in the room. Fresh Factors and Joint Health from Springtime Naturals. Also maybe a visit to a chiropractor. It has helped my 4 year old boy tremendously. My 10 year old goes now too.

I have had 3 greyhounds and no one has sleep startle but at bedtime when I shut the lights off I rub Luka's head. I tried touching Carter and he did the scream of death so I don't touch him like that any more.

So sorry to hear this sad news. She lived a wonderful life full of love. May her memories keep you strong as you say goodbye.

For my two boys I put in two heaping tablespoons of carrots, one spoonful of coconut oil and water. For one hound I would do 1 tablespoon. You have to get hounds gradually used to the coconut oil. Start with 1/4 teaspoon for 7 days, then 1/2 teaspoon for 7 then a tablespoon.

Dogs do not get anything from eating raw carrots as their teeth are not designed to grind food but tear it. Carrots pretty much just pass on thru. The Olewo carrots are amazing. My dogs have wonderful, firm poops since they have been eating them every night. They love it! It helps calm the digestive system and has helped so much with the gas. Mix it with some virgin organic coconut oil and it is a very healthy snack. I free fed so we put it in a bowl and the gobble it down. They get so excited at carrot time. Can't say enough good things about Olewo carrots.

First of all I bought a large plastic tool kit at Menards to hold all my supplies. It sure has come in very handy and I make sure to always bring with to a meet and greet and all my greyhound trips. I have: Wound Wash sterile saline spray, a small bottle of hand sanitizer (for me) cotton balls, q-tips, triple antibiotic gel, thieves oil, Purification oil, Vetericyn ( highly recommend this product for wound and skin care), Quick Stop, Pepto Bismol, thermomator, low does aspirin, Greyhounds are not "regular" dogs blood work lab result card, a small flash light,scissors, non-stick bandages, gauze, a number of rolls of vet wrap, Deramax, Benadryl and more vet wrap. I my almost 9 years of having greyhounds I have become an expert at bandaging my hounds boo-boos.

wonder if the Olewo carrots would do this boy some good. It helps calm the digestive track and will help firm up the poops. If he likes it you can mix other things into it and feed it in a separate bowl.

As one of Baby's Aunties I knew this day was coming sooner than later but even knowing what laid ahead does not make the sorrow any easier. My family was so blessed to have Baby and Reily as our guest a number of times and we enjoyed her company so much. She was at ease in my house, last time she was in my brother's bed within minutes of walking into my house. My Mom loved the fact that all four dogs (Julie's two and my two) fit together like peas in a pod. I will never forget the horrified look on Luka's face when Baby jumped onto his couch and squeezed in. She was big compaired to Luka. Mom, her butt is touching my butt!! Neither hound would give in and they stayed on the couch together. Baby would sleep in bed with me at night taking Luka's spot but he didn't grumble and let his guest sleep with Momma. Baby was always the prettiest girl in the room and I always reminded my boys to tell her how pretty she was. Thank you Julie for sharing your girl with my family. I free both my hounds and have free fed for 8 1/2 years. My boy is really skinny too. Free feeding didn't really add any weight but I like that my boy who nibbles can have food whenever he is hungry. Luka says it is cookies that will add the weight. He says he is under-cookied.

With the Olewo carrots I have two dogs that get it every night. I put two big table spoons in some warm water along with a spoonful of carrots. Let is soak in. Add more or less water depending on how thick or thin you want it. I put it in a bowl and the two come running. The carrots help soothe the digestive system and is good for keeping the poops nice and firm.

How about a consult with Dr Couto?

I had been using milk thistle on my hounds for liver support after each dose of heartworm. It is bitter tasting and the only way I could get them to take it was put 10 drops on a tiny piece of whole wheat bread. Let it soak in and then put peanut butter over it to mask the taste. My boy is 59 pounds and my girl was 78. I also had to give milk thistle to one of my parrots for a liver issue. They flavored it like caramel. He would come over to the side of the cage and open his mouth for the drops. I bought mine at my local health food store.

I had no idea Murray was going thru this. He is one of my favorite boys on this site. He is so blessed to have you and your husband. I hope he has many, many more months, no years filled with trips and all the good stuff life brings him. So glad you have your boy back and the treatment brought him such relief.
