  1. The owner of the company was supposed to be a speaker at GIG last year. Didn't show up or call. Left them short handed for the event. Not impressed with them at all.
  2. Welcome to the greyhound world and Greytalk from Chicago! You will learn so much on this site.
  3. Look into Olewo carrots. Works wonders on soft poop and helps calm the digestion system. There are many posts on greyt talk about how it has helped so many hounds.
  4. How about half a peanut butter sandwich on whole wheat bread?
  5. I was nervous when I brought my third hound into my house. Would he have sleep startle, would he not liked to be touched on his face, would he be food aggressive. Carter has none of these but part of my night time ritual is to rub Luka's face when he is on his bed and I touched Carter and he screamed. The room was dark and he was scared by a sudden touch. I no longer touch him in the dark. WIth a new dog you find out some of these things pretty quick what they will like and don't like. Greyhounds really pick up on your stress so just take it easy, remember they are adjusting to so many things they have never experienced. It takes time for them to fully open up and relax. Soon you will wonder how you ever lived without a greyhound. And you might even start thinking about getting a second one!
  6. Yes, I also use Fresh Factors and Joint Health for my 10 year old and my 4 year old. I give my 10 year old 4-5 of each kind and my 4 year old 2 of each. You can increase as needed.
  7. My heart sank when I saw Murray's name. I really thought that you had more time. I didn't know Murray was your first hound. He found the right home with you two and you were able to give him an amazing life. Thank you for sharing him with us and know that there are so many people around the world who shares your sorrow. I love your photos and I am so glad that you share your greyhounds with us. Hugs to you, Burke and Holly. May his memories and knowing that he is with your beloved Bee give you some comfort. Jan, Luka and Carter
  8. Joint health from Springtime. Maybe add Fresh Factor's too. My letter and my greyhound's photo is on their website under testimonials.
  9. Did you tell Twiggy that she has a big fan club? She is one strong, determined girl. Continued prayers coming your way!
  10. I was just thinking about you two. I am so sorry to hear this about Twiggy. I will keep you in my prayers. Please keep us updated. Hugs! Jan, Luka and Carter
  11. I think loss of appetite is common with kidney disease. Look in her eyes, she will tell you when she is ready to leave her body and be free. I used an animal communicator with my girl when she was diagnosed with bone cancer. I just had another session and she correctly told me Luka was having issues with his spine. The chiropractor found he was having back spasms right where she said. Her name is Latifa and her site is Animals Can Talk. Hope you can find something she likes to eat and can have more time. Hugs!
  12. what wonderful news and a beautiful way to end the year! You go Taylor!!!
  13. is there a certain brand of the ointment you used?
  14. When I first got my newest boy Carter he would do the greyhound scream of death whenever I put my hand near his collar. I wouldn't even be touching and he would scream. I talked to my animal communicator Latifa and asked him why he screams when I am not even touching him. He said he was expecting pain. She suggested a chiropractor. I took him to a local vet and after the exam we found he had stiffness in his back, his shoulder, neck and jaw. He yelped a few times but he seemed relaxed and I could see the trust in his eyes as Dr Whalen worked on him. He goes for regular adjustments a few times a year. It has made a big difference. Note: if you notice your dog does not shake when he gets up from a nap it could be an indicator of pain or discomfort.
  15. Oh my goodness! So young and tragic, even more so this time of year.
  16. Welcome from Chicago! You will be amazed at how your life will change once you bring your hound home and I mean this in the best way! The people you will meet, the places you will go. There are greyhound festivals all over the country. Nothing better than taking a vacation with your hound and being surrounded by greyhounds. This forum will be a big help, don't hestitate to ask questions or for advice.
  17. My brother was cooking brown rice to add to the carrot and beet mixture. The hounds loved it!
  18. When I travel with the hounds I just hot tap water, about 1/2 cup or so and two heaping spoonful of carrots and a spoon full of coconut oil. Let is sit for about 5 minutes. If you want is soupier add more water, drier use less water.
  19. Jilly was one of my favorites here. I miss that little girl . Funny how these hounds touch your hearts and in most cases we have never met the dogs in person but we love them so much. I am grateful that everyone shares their beloved dogs with all of us.
  20. My boys eat Paul Newman's Organic chicken and rice kibble but for their birthdays and Gotcha Days they get to share a Portillos plain hamburger. They are crazy about them and have never had an issue with tummy troubles.
  21. This made me cry. I am sorry her passing wasn't as peaceful as you had hoped. I can tell she was your heart dog. You did all you could for her and she knew that. Sending gentle hugs, Jan, Luka and Carter
