  9. I am part of the "never" off leash club. No dog is 100% predictable all the time. All the training in the world can't erase thousands of years of instict to run and hunt. Not worth the risk. I know some people on Greytalk do let their hounds off leash. I just pray that you never have to post a heartbreaking post that your dog met an untimely death that could have been prevented. Your hound is beautiful by the way. Welcome to Greytalk! We have lots of opinions here because we love our hounds so much.
  10. Another big thumbs up for the Olewo carrots and beets. My boys coming running when it is time for them to get them. Has made a huge difference in the poops and gas. I love this stuff!!
  11. Have you thought about going to a chiropractor for a exam? Has really helped Carter, he feels so good afterwards.
  12. How about Oleow carrots? They really work amazing for the Big D and help calm the digestive system. I've heard of people whose hounds have never had a "normal" poop in years and after trying the Olewo carrots they are normal.
  13. So my hound would not jump into the back of my Jeep. I would place his front paws on the Jeep and then boost his back end up and in. I did that for over 6 years. Ended up having to get physical therapy on my elbow. My doctor asked what I did to hurt my arm. I said could it be from lifting up a 59 pound dog? Yep, that is it. One day my friend walks Luka to the back of the Jeep. He looks at me, looks at her and jumps in with ease. The look on his face was priceless! Oh crap! Did Momma see me do that?? Yes my love you are so busted. The next day we go to the Jeep he looks at me like are you going to give me a boost and I said- are you kidding me, I know what you can do! He jumped in with no problem and has ever since.
  14. I have had three greyhounds and never had an issue with anxiety but I have always had at least two dogs in my home, at one time three. Many greyhounds can do well as a single dog but I think they really do prefer the company of another dog. I have anxiety too and my hounds help me so much. Hard to feel bad when loving on your hound! Welcome to the cult, I mean club. Visit Greytalk often for much needed advice and support. Everyone has been wonderful to me in the years I have had hounds.
  15. My friend had a hound with that. It is an attoimune disease, this lupus. . He passed from osteo, two days after getting the diagnosis.
  16. Can you imagine what they must think the first time they lay on a comfy bed. They must think that this is heaven. And then add cookies! Now that is when the real living begins. So happy for your new hound.
  17. How wonderful!! So glad you found a new friend.
  18. Thank you for sharing your story. It was beautiful. He will live forever in your heart because when someone touches your heart the imprint lasts forever. Run free sweet boy, your Momma loves you so.
  19. Check out Olewo carrots for the soft poops. Works wonders.
  20. I am so sorry you lost your sweet girl so soon and when you were not there with her. I know the pain your heart feels. A new hound won't replace your girl but it will help you heal and keep your mind busy. I am sure your girl will help you find a new friend. It is the circle of life but sometimes it is a painful journey.
  21. What a wonderful life you gave to her. She will always be in your heart. May your memories give you comfort in this time of sadness. I hope that she comes back to visit and let you know she is OK. Gentle hugs, Jan, Luka and Carter
  22. This will be one of the hardest things you will ever have to do. But know in your heart you are doing right by her. We have all been thru this. We understand your pain and sorrow as you say goodbye. Be sure to tell her to let you know that she is OK after she passes. Ask her for a sign. Hugs, Jan, Luka and Carter
  23. I am so sorry you lost your sweet boy so suddenly. Run free sweet boy and know you are loved and missed.
  24. My fox terrier got very swollen at the end. We knew he was having some liver issues. He had 7 pounds of fluid in him and there was blood in the fluid. He was dripping fluid from where they took the sample. My vet said he could start hemorrhaging fluid at any time. We let him go . I didn't want him to suffer any more. I could not let his last minutes be in pain and fear.
