  1. You wouldn't need any permanent trolley if you amputate. Just a towel or sling the first few days. Please go to the osteo thread and read through. You'll see lots of pictures of happy running tripods. Good luck with your decision.
  2. A quick wrap with vetwrap will also do the trick.
  3. This is one of the hardest decisions of any pet parent. Two of my girls had osteo. I went the amp route both times. First time on a 12 year old. Yes, that's an old girl. But she spent a whole day with Dr. Couto at OSU determining if she could handle it. He said age is but a number. She had 6 terrific pain free months until osteo showed up in her hind leg. I was hit again with osteo and my 9 year old lost her front leg. She had the best 14 months. And once again osteo came back in anorher bone. But my Tanzi lived life to the fullest until that last month. I never regretted my decisions. Never. Amputation is a viable course. But remember, whatever choice you make is not wrong because you make it out of love.
  4. Dec 19 my Tanzi had clear xrays. Her back pain was not getting better. Two weeks later we did a CT scan. She had OS. Being a tripod already there was nothing we could do. She was gone Jan 19. If you can afford it, I would get a scan.
  5. A greyhound may not be good with kids, but not because they think kids are prey. And they do not need a lot of exercise. http://livestly.com/dog-breeds-that-might-affect-homeowners-insurance-premiums/14/?utm_content=5da28f&utm_campaign=LIVD_TB_TBLT_FamilyDogs&utm_source=taboola&utm_medium=usatoday-mobile&ss=1
  6. What is the reliance mine saloon? I'm probably not going to make it. I m arriving back from Europe that Friday. I doubt I'll be up for driving 3 1/2 hours Saturday morning. But if I have my new girl by then I'm going to need to do some serious shopping.
  7. Oooo, that Chrysocolla is really interesting. Means a new beginning which is so perfect for these China dogs. And I can call her Chrissy or Chrissa.
  8. I dont know who she is yet, but I am actively looking. Most probably a Canidrome dog.
  9. I was actually thinking turquoise. And calling her Turkey. And aquamarine was also high. Calling her Aqua. Ruby I'd like to save for a fawn or brindle. Garnet is also high up there.
  10. There is probably a new girl in my near future. And I think most people know I name my girls after gemstones. After Topaz, Onyx, Pearl, Diamond, Opal, Crystal, Jade, Tanzanite and Emerald names are getting hard. Amethyst is off the list right now because the short name Amy sounds too close to my current girl Emma. And I keep hoping there's a blue or white/blue in my future, so I'm hesitant to use Sapphire. So what do you guys think? Anything that might relate to China or Australia?
  11. And amputating now will hopefully prevent a joint infection which Emma eventually got.
  12. I agree with fiveroooers. Emma had what sounds like the same thing. After 6 months of healing and reopening, we took off the toe. She is fine now. Does not miss it.

    Mazy

That brought tears to my eyes. We shared the same birthday.
  14. I give good quality, made in North America only, treats.
  15. Also, another thought. Some dogs are sensitive to chicken. Keep that in the back of your mind if he doesn't improve.
  16. Has she been tested for worms? Sometimes negative stool sample doesn't mean they are worm free.
  17. I'm in Hunterdon county. An hour and a half away. I grew up in Spring Lake.
  18. I'm a Jersey girl, where abouts are you? All the group's I know of around here do dentals. And unfortunately worms seem to becoming resistant to the dewormers. Once your new furkids is free of the hooks bring them over for a playdate. I have one girl and a whole acre to run in.
