Prehensile tail?

Gelsey has super-short fur and a long whip of a tail on which she frequently opens up wounds with aerobic wagging.  I'm thinking of painting the kitchen cabinets red so her blood won't show up as much.  

This morning, in her pre-breakfast celebration, she discovered a new skill.  That tail must have accidentally entered the airspace of a cabinet door handle, and pulled the door open!  She looked a little surprised at first, then quickly sniffed the inside of the cabinet.  Alas, no food.  Bummer.  If I see her studying the dogfood pantry cabinet door, I am in trouble.

Ruh ro! Be careful Gelsey, angel Andy must have had too many crime scenes of his own because he came to me with just a stump of a tail. Perhaps mom will be stocking up on these

I'm an experienced Happy Tail bandager.  Jeter graduated from New Boy Crate first day with a spectacular happy tail.  He had a lot more fur on his tail than Gelsey does, but his tail was more like a club than Gelsey's whiplike appendage, and was a true helicopter tail.  It took months to nurse Jeter's tail back to health.  With Gelsey, I often can't even find where she broke it open, but I know she did because of the tiny flecks of blood all over the kitchen.

I think I still have blood in odd spots from long-gone happy tails.

Aerobic wagging.   Angie does that too.  Her tail is so long that it brushes the ground when she is at rest.  Yes, we should channel this energy and physical construction to our benefit.  I think Gelsey has already figured out how to channel it to HER benefit!
