dmswartzfager Posted September 1, 2013 Author Share Posted September 1, 2013 I was eventually able to speak to the ER doc, who had gotten a hold of the cardiologist. He's not happy about this development (but then, who is?) and wants to give her some more heparin injections over the next 24 hours, and recheck her PTT (clotting time). Then based on how that looks, and how she is doing clinically, we'll make a decision as to how to move forward from here. The ER doc offered to release her to me so she could be here at home, since I'm a tech student and can give the injections, but she is quite painful, so we've opted to leave her there overnight on a fentanyl drip. Needless to say, I'm scared - this episode came up so unexpectedly, and thankfully we were with her and able to get her right to the ER. We're going to head back over around 9 pm and visit with her (and put a deposit down for her care).
