  1. I have seen two or three all white Greyhounds.
  2. We said goodbye to Missy Soul yesterday. She came to us from the brood farm in Kansas March 24, 2017, the day before her eighth birthday. She was a wonderful companion, and is greatly missed. Thanks to Shelley Lake for finding her for us, and all who cared for during her careers as a racer and brood for making her the amazing pet she was.
  3. Missy Soul likes the blue bag--Mature chicken.
  4. To insure the safety of my Greyhound and other dogs, we only use the dog park when there are no other dogs present. Soul is tremendously competitive.
  5. Gini's products are made to stand up to cold Midwestern winters. Now if I could just convince Missy Soul that coats are not evil beings to strangle her!
  6. I saw a brand called "Barkworthy" in a store today.
  7. Soul really hates muzzles. As best I can figure, she went outside and rubbed it vigorously on the ground, breaking the part where the behind the ears strap attaches. She then gave it a chomp for good measure. Poop cups have been ordered.
  8. Well, I have good and bad to report. Good: muzzle prevented poop eating. Bad: Missy Soul managed to break it in less than a week. Then she truly showed her dislike by chewing it some. Rats. Guess I'm in the market for some poop cups.
  9. Thanks to all who posted. The Irish muzzle is exactly what I've been looking for. Will let you all know how it works.
  10. Know it's been posted sometime in the not so distant future. Missy Soul hates her muzzle but loves to eat poop. Am thinking one of these would come in handy.
  11. My first two hounds did well on a raw/kibble mix. I fed the Nature's Instinct raw frozen and Kirkland Select kibble, with good results. Unfortunately, it got too pricey. Missy Pea was quite picky in her sunset years, but she loved FreshPet Select, which isn't raw but cooked and refrigerated. She ate it mixed with kibble, as well. Edited to add: I haven't had issues with poop eating until now. Caught Missy Soul snacking in the back yard. Guess I need to buy a poop cup!
  12. Have you tried a sprinkle of nutritional yeast on his food? Missy Soul gives it four paws up!
  13. If the oatmeal works and your dog likes it, by all means continue! I feed the Olewo Beets and Carrots to help firm up Missy Soul's stools.
  14. The dog park in MyTown is a former baseball field. Since we know Missy Soul is not fond of other dogs, we only allow her in the park when there are no other dogs present. If she's with another Greyhound, like when Miss Cocoa visited earlier this year, only the two Greyhounds, both muzzled. We've had one incident where we were leaving the park, and an owner with small fluffies allowed them to jump out of the car trailing a leash, or were being held by a toddler who was not capable of controlling the dog. One fluffy charged Missy Soul as I was loading her, and attempted to snap at her. We all know who would have come out on the losing end of this battle, and whom would have been blamed, even though Soul was leashed to me at the time.
  15. What a beautiful tribute. I am sorry for your loss.
  16. Fresh Pet was our late Missy Pea's favorite food. We alternated chicken and beef, mixed with kibble.
  17. The mystery of the treats has been solved! Thanks to PrairieProf and Miss Cocoa for Soul's welcome home goodies!
  18. We came home today to find a package addressed to Missy Soul on the steps. Inside were beautiful, personalized biscuits! Thank you so much! Soul says they are as delicious as they are beautiful!
  19. WW's Soul became a resident of the Wozkatz Cat Retirement Ranch yesterday, just in time for her eighth birthday today! Missy Soul had a record of 143 races, 29 wins, most in A and AA races. She went out on a high note, winning her last race. She went to the brood farm, and had one litter of five pups before retirement. Thanks to Lance, who brought her to Central Iowa on his hauler yesterday. Extra special thanks to Dr. Shelley Lake, who helped us adopt Soul. Missy Soul is getting the hang of this retirement thing. She stood patiently while I took what seemed like a whole 'nother hound out of her with a stripping comb, and tolerated her bath. She wasn't too sure about the bathrobe, but didn't try to chew it off. Soul and the cat herd are tolerating each other well, with expected hissing from Clarice, Horatio Lord Nelson, and Misser Axl. I'll frost her birthday pupcakes after they finish cooling. She gets some with supper!
