Guest VelvetEars Posted May 6, 2013 Share Posted May 6, 2013 It is with a heavy heart that I have to share the news that our own EmilyAnne went to heaven last Monday, April 29, after an accident. I don't have many details, just that she was riding her bike as she loved to do, when she was hit and killed by a truck. She leaves behind her two sons, Gavin and Tyler, and her fiance Michael, along with her dog (nongrey) Rosy, who is still looking for her mama. I will always remember her smile, her giving spirit, and her ability to make the best of whatever situation life put her in. Emily was amazing, and I miss her terribly. The only comfort I get from this is that she is now reunited with Henry. The last time I spoke with her she contacted me to tell me of Henry's passing. I hope they had a joyful reunion. Guest CampWhippet Posted May 6, 2013 Share Posted May 6, 2013 I am so sad, I just heard.Emily and I never met in person but were friends for the last few years, I helped her with her algebra and this is the last message we exchanged: Emily:"Tell me if I did this right: Begin by solving the linear equation for y to put the equation in slope intercept form.." 5x-4y=20so then I....5x-4y-5x=20-5x, in order to get rid of the 5x on the right so I can isolate the 'y'.Now it is: 4y=20-5x right? now it is 4y=-5x+20?divide both sides by the 4, so.. y= -5/4x + 20/4 which makes the slope -5/4, and the y intercept 5? Except the answers in the back that the teacher gave us says the answer should be 5/4 for the slope, and negative 5 for the y-intercept? Emily answered before I could reply: "Oops, i see the mistake I made! That 4 is NEGATIVE, which means the slope ends up being -5/-4, and two negatives make a positive! And for the y intercept, that same 4 is negative too of course, and being the only neg means the answer will be negative! Tada! My reply: "good job"And I never heard from her again. I looked at her FB page and saw the post from her boyfriend. He bought her a ring and proposed at her grave. It is one of the saddest things I've ever seen. I hope her children are safe and with their grandparents or other relatives.
