Dental Postponed For Lazer - Update Post 1

Recommended Posts

Dental postponed... friday will be a pre-dental exam.. the Dr.s are pretty freaked out over his PLN/Heart Clot issues.

so, they want to see him first hand,, see what his mouth looks like... they want to be as prepared as possible...

i'll let you know when we schedule the dental...

Thanks for all the prayers and positive energy!

:D

Happy Monday everyone -- I haven't given an update on Lazer for quite a while -- we have had some ups and downs as to be expected but overall,, he's been dong GREYT!!!! :mexi2

if someone knows how and wants to put a link to previous threads about his collapse, please do :blush

so great in fact that we decided to take the last steps to get rid of bacteria and toxins from his mouth --

he is scheduled for a dental of Friday. He has always a had bad, bad, bad mouth... very red, inflamed gums and terrible tarter on his teeth and dragon breath!

We are positive his PLN can be traced right back to his teeth! (blood clots from the pln, and stroke from the blood clots and i gave him cpr to bring him back from death caused by the stroke) SO ~~~ dental it is!

To say that i'm nervous and scared is an understatement. But I found a Veterinary Dental Specialist (board certified) in the area. They have the best, newest equipment and can get the job done in the shortest amount of time. I fully expect Lazer to loose teeth - probably several. The dental specialist has been talking to Lazer's cardiologist --- between the two of them, Lazer has the best team around. we may even have to enlist a anesthesiologist,, just to monitor his vitals thru this process. $$$$$$$ what is money for anyway?

Lazer's blood work has continued to improve. His weight is up. His attitude is happy and sweet :beatheart goes on walks with me every morning and plays fetch with his squeaky toy in the yard every evening!

he continues to be on several supplements daily and prescription meds too. My biggest concern and the vet's too, is that He does still have the remnants of a blood clot in his heart. last time we looked at it, it had shrunk by 1/2.. however it is still there -- the other 2 are completely GONE!!! :mexi2

Please keep my sweet boy in your thoughts and prayers as we go thru this week (for me too ~ as long as i'm asking) Friday morning is his dental...... i need lazer to live a long, long, long life!!!

:hope:goodluck:hope:goodluck:hope:goodluck

Thank you !!!

If the power of prayer and positive thoughts have any influence, Lazer should sail through Friday with no problems!

We'll be sending both to both of you!

You might want to discuss with your vet whether amicar will be needed - it's to stop bleeding and especially if he's having teeth out. While Lazer's history with blood clots might seem to preclude this, you still might want to run it by your vet (and maybe OSU).

Good luck.

Yes, thank you. I have brought this up to both vets. Lazer is on Plavix and is also using essential oils that are both blood thinning and putting negative charge on his blood cells so they don't stick together. He has been off of plavix now for a week (will be 2 weeks at the time of the dental) and will be off everything else by wednesday to minimize problems.

Way to go Lazer! So glad to hear that you are doing well!

We will be thinking about you on Friday. Tell your Momma that you need some ice cream to help you recover from the dentist.

Good luck Lazer. With my Pearl who had hypertension and heart disease, and with Onyx who was old (15.5) I chose the expensive dentist over my regular vet. Just add another zero to the end of the bill! :yikes But, in all the years she's been doing dentals, she only lost one and that was because the owner didn't follow post dental directions.

Arnica - homeopathic pellets - are fabulous in helping with the side effects from any surgery, but in particular dentals. It will help with any bruising that results, in addition to the effects of the anesthesia

Just buy the pellets - usually 30x - put six - eight of those in the cap - don't touch them yourself. put them on his gums or tongue and let them melt in his mouth. I do this when dogs are lying down, and just curl back the lip and drop them in there. I'd do this 2 - 3 days before - 2 times a day. I'd do it day of surgery, and I'd give it right after you pick him up, and then continue for a few days.

Hopefully, You'll see faster recovery and less bruising.

Of course, a holistic vet would be the definitive person to ask about using homeopathic pellets.

Also, stop all fish oils days before the surgery.

If you have the option of having a veterinary anesthesiologist present for the procedure, I'd definitely recommend going that route!

Well you can never be too careful. I'm sure it is the best thing. Everything will still be great at the right and perfect time. When Ivy was scheduled for her leg amputation the board certified and very gifted surgeon postponed it at the last minute because he just didn't feel right about it. Later it went smoothly. I'm sure his wisdom saved us from who knows what had it been done as originally scheduled.
