Guest Energy11
Thanks for all your prayers for it to be thyroid! I am not sure when we will get the results back, with the holidays, and all :-( She had A VERY rough night. Cried, paced, barked, for two hours, and again, after breakfast this morning. We and she, are worn out, BUT. that gentle old girl is soo worth it all~ Well, my FRESH CUT tree from our property is officially dead... gotta take it down, NOW! :-( Next year, I won't put it up at Thanksgiving! Love you all, and thanks for your well wishes! It means more than I can say! Dee

Guest Energy11
Dee, is there an Update on Goldies Condition yet ??? No ... no updates yet :-( She is the same. NIGHTS and early mornings pretty much "hell." ... During the day, she is fine, for the most part. Free T4 at MSU now, thanks to some very savvy internal medicine specialists at Idexx Labs who saw "something" they wanted explored! I know this type of analyisis takes about a week NORMALLY, but, with the holidays, I am not sure now much longer we wil have to wait. STILL PRAYING for a miracle! Hugs for your continuing support and prayers!

You're more restrained than I am! I'd have been asking "what, what, what something"?! ME?? "Restrained?" ... I just learned patience after over 12 years as a paramedic. I am NOT happy waiting, but, ... what else can I do??? I am EXTREMELY hopeful that Goldie's thyroid will be totally in the "toilet,".... and all of this nightmare will be gone! The Thyroid can really really "mess you up..." so, but , ... the good part is ... it is TREATABLE, and I am holding onto that!

Guest Energy11
Goldie is the same. She paced, barked, whined, snapped at me, etc. last night. Dh has a VERY calming effect on her which helps. WE are BOTH tired out, as she has to urinate at night being on the pred and the phenobarb. Poor thing has a little loose stool from the Cephalexin for her UTI as well. Days, pretty good, as usual. With these holidays, I am sure MSU is short staffed, and don't expect anything till next week. This is taking forever! Thank you all for your continuing good thoughts, white light and prayers! Many hugs! Dee and Goldie, too!

Guest Energy11
My vet just called. She talked to MSU and Idexx labs. Goldie is NOT hypothyroid. :-( So.... more than likely, she has a brain lesion (tumor)! I have just sent an email WITH these results to Dr. Jean Dodds at Hemopet, so we shall see what she says. I THINK Dr. Couto and company are away until after the first of the year, as I want to send the results to HIM first. Remember, these results were sent to MSU, as well. If any of you have more comments/suggestions, they will be greatly appreciated. Many hugs and thanks! RaineysMom
Hi Dee, I haven't posted on here but I want you to know I have it tracked and read each and every update and have been keeping you in my prayers. the results were somewhat hard to read, but I think it says that the TSH was NOT elevated, thus she does not have a low thyroid for real but honestly, I don't know if that would much matter as Rainey continues to have seizures still. I haven't wanted to post because each dog is different and I didn't want to discourage you. I'm glad she had a good night last night and hope it continues. question: what kind of "focal" seizures is Goldie having? Can you describe? I think I have one idea of what they are, and I'm not sure if Rainey's (the few she's had, most are Tonic Clonic) are really focal or partial TC's. I'm wondering if Goldie's aren't that severe, and seem pretty rare, if she even needs to be on meds? Or maybe you can try something other than the pheno.? unfortunately we had to start Rainey back on the pheno this morning as she getting worse. The seizures are bad enough but she has become extremely aggressive to us. I don't know what the future will bring....this is the last option we have for her . sending many hugs to you all. Kim Yeah... I know the results are hard to read :-((... that is how they copied. I just got off the phone to MY vet here, and she talked to MSU. Goldie is NOT hypothyroid. When Goldie had those two seizures, the first time, her head shook and stiffened, and she vomited. Then, at the vets, half her body stiffened. I have seen focals in humans, and these look the same ... Since she has been on all the meds, she's only had one minor "focal,"... she was walking ouside, slowed down a bit, and her neck started vibrating. Both the vet here, and my former vet/employer in Florida, said to keep her on all the meds. Dr. Couto is away till the middle of Jan., so I am hoping Dr. Jean Dodds might have some suggestions. I am soo sorry to hear about Rainey! SHE had the MRI, and they ruled out a tumor, right? I wonder WHAT is causing her seizures? Many hugs and thanks! Dee ... Batmom
If she had only two small incidents, I'd wean her off ALL her current meds, wait at least 10 days, and then reassess. That's a heavy medication load and could be causing her ongoing symptoms all by itself. Best luck.
