Guest StagnBob Posted April 23, 2010 Share Posted April 23, 2010 Our beloved Bob, the perfect gentleman passed over the rainbow bridge on Wednesday evening. He had been ill for about 3 weeks, extremely lethargic, not eating or drinking independently but we somehow got him through that. He had blood tests, x-rays and a scan, all of which came back clear. He saw 4 different vets on different occasions, had antibiotics and pain killers and the last vet he saw gave him a cortesone injection that seemed to perk him up. He rallied round for about a week, having short walks and being interested in food and treats again. Then this last weekend it all started again, he lost all interest in everything. On Wednesday afternoon he had a fit, when he came round he staggered around for almost two hours, in the house and in the garden, until finally laying down on the grass. He seemed totally disorientated and didn't seem to know us. We talked long and hard but finally felt that he had had enough, he had lost his quality of life and we didn't want him to lose his dignity. The vets suspected he had a brain tumour. We all miss him so much, my OH especially, it has hit him hard. Bob was not the oldest in our rather large pack, he was not yet 8 and that seems to unfair. He was the type of greyhound all the books are written about, laid back, gentle and loving, but not in a pushy way. It's going to take a long time to get over this, the house just doesn't seem the same without him.
