  1. Shannon, I am so sorry for your loss of Timmy. Such a beautiful love story.
  2. Mazy just chilled out on it. She wasn't a slug and still ate well. It only lasts 4 hours. We only used it a few times. I'll check on the dosage after work later. Read up on any side effects. My vet wanted to check Mazy over while she was on it.
  3. Post-op cold laser therapy may speed up healing. Is that included in your surgical estimate?
  4. Our first mutt Rosie weighed around 55 lbs. She had the ACL surgery in 1994 and cost around $800. She was young and the vet warned us that the other leg would need the same surgery within a year or so. He was right. Recovery was easy as she wasn't a runner like greyhounds are. We only had to limit her from getting up on the couch.
  5. From Dr Stack's site: http://www.greythealth.com/anesthesia.html She also has info on lab results.
  6. Welcome home Stretch! I love baby landsharks puppies. We'll be expecting lots of pictures
  7. Gosh, that was a lot of fluid that came out. Although I have not had your experience with my dogs, my mom had ovarian cancer. She ignored her swelling, sloshing abdomen and did not tell her doctor. She had 2 liters of fluid drained multiple times. That fluid was the primary indicator of her body's response to the cancer. I say this not to dishearten you. I think you would move mountains for your girl.
  8. Gas leak, approaching storm's electricity in the air, ghosts? Would a Kong with peanut butter distract him enough to keep him upstairs?
  9. Ask about Trazadone. It didn't make Mazy acted drugged, just calmed, the few times we really needed it. It only lasts for 4 hours. After seeing how frantic she was at the clinic, my vet wanted to observe her there while on the Trazadone. She then gave us the OK to use it.
  10. I am so sorry that your beautiful Mira had to leave you. I will add her name to the list of Bridge Angels.
  11. I have no advice, just Google scares the heck out of me sometimes, but this does have a list of breathing problems: http://www.petmd.com/dog/conditions/respiratory/c_dg_dyspnea_tachypnea_panting
  12. Saying goodbye to the beautiful greyhounds and their friends who left us in May 2015. As you run with the wind send a caress to wipe our tears. Gone but never forgotten. Loved forever. Run free with those who have gone before you. Greet all those that will follow. Dazzle Sallie Ettie Bonny Bobber Karma, the lovely mutt girl Timmy Pablo, the chicken Mystique Richy Matawan FTH PillowTalker, aka Stickman/Stickers, one of the Banjo Boyz Lisa Durango Tess Bea Cashy Banjo, the little fella from England Barb York, mom to Rona and Nova Pistol Quinn Mac Buddy, the dachshund They'll always be with us, just slightly beyond the point that we can see with our eyes. In our heart, though, they'll be bright and clear, as they always were.
  13. Was the urine sample the first catch of the day?
  14. There are times when I have to raise my voice at Mazy - just briefly, not a rant. Poor Mikey looks mortified so I always immediately say his name along with "good boy". Hurt feelings vanish.
  15. I've been where you are too many times. It never gets any easier to deal with. I think a ride and a cheeseburger sound like a fitting final memory.
  16. I will add Anita's name to the list of Bridge Angels.
  17. The spirit of Mutt le mutt came to me on the anniversary of her passing. Every night she slept beside my bed, right where my feet would touch down. If I didn't reach over and pat her head I would hear an "umph, umph" until I did. That night last week I had only been in bed for a minute before I heard an "umph". I rolled over. PUdge wasn't physically there but I felt her presence. With the other dogs I have heard a jingle of dog tags in a back room when all the dogs were with me in a front room. Little Nina, my gaglo, visited me before I adopted her. I would see the blurry form of a small greyhound out of the corner of my eye. It happened several times. Then one day I drove a load of kibble to GFNC and met a very small elderly galgo girl who had just been dumped by her long term owners. Hello Nina. We area multiple dog household. Wally didn't send a sign after he left but he did tell that he would be the next. He never ventured near our doggy graveyard before this day. I too one side of the fence down to clean it up and Wally walked right in. And stayed there until I went all the way back to the house to get my camera. He probably stood in there for 10-15 minutes. Wally lived a few more months after that, but he was indeed the next to go. Our doggy graveyard has doubled in size since that photo was taken.
  18. That definitely makes for a very good day.
  19. Oh my. While I see diarrhea in your future, all I can think of is that their blood may be thinned to the point of not clotting until the salmon oil is out of their system. Googling around I see mention of increased bruising, dizziness and nausea. http://fishoildogs.net/blog/to-much-fish-oil-can-be-bad-for-your-dog/ http://saveabull.com/dog-ate-fish-oil/ http://startupfiance.com/2010/intervention/
  20. Another Dr Couto fan here too. He's reviewed several of my dogs' images. Sometimes good news, sometimes bad. Always detailed. Always willing to answer my followup questions.
  21. I will add Doc's name to the list of Bridge Angels.
