  1. Sounds like your new girl will be in doggy heaven Be sure to post pictures when she arrives!
  2. rsieg makes a good point, a cat test in the kennel, or even a dog being successfully fostered with cats or small dogs, gives you a good indication of the dog’s inclinations, but the final test will be in Your home with Your pets. Don’t want to frighten you off, you are probably aware, all animals are individuals.
  3. Lots of greyhounds can live with small dogs and cats, and if you end up fostering, it is very helpful for adopters to get a dog they know has lived with small dogs or cats. Starting to work with a local group is a great way to begin!
  4. Please, please, take P2 and leave. I was sure he would screw up and get sent back to prison, but I don’t want you to be the victim that sends him back.
  5. Your scary neighbor is the first thing I thought of when you said poisoning Calling a local news station might work, or it might make things worse. There is no “shaming” scum like that, they don’t care.
  6. I am glad you found out the cause, but what a horrible thing to do. I’d like to shove those chicken bones down their throats
  7. Whippets should be fine, unless he has an individual negative response.
  8. I am so sorry. He was a great protector.
  9. If she is reacting in both shoulders, it could be something pulled in her neck/back. The main treatment for that is pain meds and rest, which I think you are already doing. Hope she improves!
  10. Yes, you can spray it on the sore as well as around it, I used it with a dog that tended to lick hot spots. It just seems to be something some of them do. If the Bactine doesnt work, try EMT gel. It forms a sort of flexible barrier over the sore spot and apparently tastes nasty. If all else fails, you may need to muzzle him with a poop cup until the spots heal. And remember anytime he has a scrape or scratch, he will start licking again. Sigh.
  11. Anything that throws off their normal gait, like corns or an old injury, can show up as a limp in either the affected leg/shoulder or the opposite one. Conner has a foot injury that healed wonky, so he has a limp on his back right foot. He developed a limp in his left front shoulder from having his normal movement thrown off. Hope it is nothing more than the corns!
  12. Glad he is feeling better! It will probably take 24-36 hrs for him to get completely back to normal.
  13. I used a spray on for kids for Fletcher, but its been a few years, so I don't remember which brand I finally chose. Banana Boat? Maybe?
  14. They all leave a huge hole in our hearts and lives when they leave, but the “special” ones, they leave a Grand Canyon and
  15. I had a dog once that ate a packet of "natural" fly attractant (to get the flies into a trap) I called the company and they said while the stuff was stinky and kind of disgusting, it was absolutely harmless to dogs. Apparently Fletcher wasn't the first dog to eat the stuff
  16. I’d make them both get off the couch as soon as the snarking starts and take away all couch privileges for awhile. YOU sit in the center spot. Hopefully they will get the message and eventually you can let them back on the couch.
  17. How old is she? At this point I think I would ask for x-rays, just to know what I was dealing with. Yes, soft tissue injuries can take weeks, even months to heal, and rest is a big part of that, hard for an active dog! My friend's blue tick coonhound had a lot of problems with her feet/toes, I don't remember exactly what now, it has been a few years, but I know surgery was involved.
  18. I am glad the tramadol helped her! They are very good at hiding pain, unfortunately.
  19. Getting her back to her routine should help. Tramadol may help if she has pain, and she doesn’t have a bad reaction to it. You might also ask your vet about using Gabapentin.
  20. So very frustrating! I hope you can get some answers and it isn't too bad. for you and Stewie
  21. Molly didn’t bother people food for years, never showed any interest in the kitchen counter or table. Then one day I set down a plate with some chicken on it, briefly left the room, and came back to find her helping herself They never stop surprising you
