  1. Glad to hear Oakly is doing better! I am sure the cooler, dryer weather must be a help too. You are so right that the heat bothers the old ones even with AC.

    Bearbear

He looked like he was a very happy boy. I am so sorry
  3. I am certainly no radiologist, but at least I don't see the dreaded "shadow"

    Moxie

I am so sorry a sad ending, but you obviously gave him a wonderful final year
  5. There is something called Biotene that cancer patients use for dry mouth caused by chemo. It worked well for my mother, but you would have to check with your vet to see if it was OK for dogs.
  6. I think from the dog's point of view the worst part of the whole thing is missing breakfast!
  7. I haven't responded because i have nothing useful to offer but I did want to say I am glad the new meds are helping him!
  8. Just catching up on this, so glad to hear she is feeling better! On the sudden change in likes/dislikes, if something gives them an upset tummy, a stomach bug, IBD, antibiotic, whatever, they can associate what they are eating with feeling bad and go off the food. I had a girl that reacted badly to an antibiotic and overnight quit eating the food she had previously loved. Never would eat that food again!
  9. My only poop eater was Fletcher. He mostly only ate his own poop, although he'd grab feral cat poop on our walks if I wasn't fast enough. In his case, I think it was related to his IBD. Once that was diagnosed and under control, he stopped poop eating unless he was having an IBD flare up. Still went after the feral cat poop when he could, though
  10. I am glad to hear he will be OK. He just wanted to make sure you didn't forget about him
  11. I was furious with VPI as well. They hiked the rates on my cats when they hit 10, and I had never had a claim, of any kind. Then they refused to cover Fletcher at all, because of his IBD. I knew they wouldn't cover that, pre-existing condition, but otherwise? Sorry, just reliving how mad I was I hope you can find a good option for Zuri!
  12. VPI is notorious for hiking rates on older pets, regardless of their health status! That is why I dropped them, years ago. There weren't any alternatives then, so I started a "vet emergency savings account" and just put what I was paying in premiums in there. Sorry I don't know anything about Healthy Paws, except that people seem to be happy with them mostly.
  13. As someone pointed out to me when I was obsessing about one of my dog's dentals, you are dog-mom, it is your job to worry! Plan on spoiling him after, ice cream is always good (and you can have some too)
