  1. Robin, I am so sorry for your loss. It's shocking and I always enjoyed your pictures and stories about her. RIP beauty
  2. I'm so sorry for your familie's loss. I had hoped she would improve
  3. I just got my order Monday for my 3 boxes of trifexis. It is sold under a panoramis in AUS, but it's the same company manufacturing it and the exact same ingredients. It didn't take long to get my order and the website has the option of paying with PayPal which makes it a much more secure transaction. Also, my vet was already prescribing my dogs Trifexis and this is what my dogs are used to taking. I did not just decide to have them start taking a new med without talking to a vet first.
  4. The z/d is the only food Butter could eat until I found the Acana.
  5. My lab mix has IBD and can't handle chicken either. We tried so many foods. He was on the science diet rx food as well for a long time. I hate SD because it really doesn't have that good of ingredients and his coat looked awful while he was on it, but it didn't make his tummy upset. We finally found Acana Pacifica that he does amazing with it. I've tried to switch him to more cost friendly foods over the years and each time we have had horrible luck so I stick with what works! It's also a really good food and his coat is super shiny and he has that sparkle back in his eye! What I would suggest is check ingredients and try a few foods. Eventually you will find what works for her.
  6. I think he looks good. He's still got a lot of muscle from racing. I wouldn't put too much weight on him. I keep Gigi between 60-63 which was her race weight, actually she pretty much keeps herself there, she not very food motivated, but you don't want to put too much weight on him.
  7. I use trifexis on all 3 of our dogs so thank you for this site! I just bought 3 boxes and it was a lot cheaper! I'm excited about this!
  8. Our local feeder supply has a scale so whenever I take Gigi with me to pick up food I usually put her on the scale to check it out. She hovers between 60-63 lbs.
  9. I've tried some of the dental water additive and both kinds.. I can't remember the names off hand, I'll have to check when I get home. They both made my one boy start to vomit and have diarrhea. As soon as I stopped putting it in the water he got better. It never affected my two girls though. I will have to check when I get home to see if they have that ingredient in them. I never thought to look at that.
  10. Oh yea, Gigi will yelp if I shine a flashlight beam on her feet! She knows I'm checking for cuts/scraps. She ripped a toenail out the first month we had her and I would shine the flashlight on it to check it out. I guess she has learned that the flashlight beam results in me messing with her feet! It really is the funniest thing!
  11. I carry "something" with me when I walk the dogs, but with the area I live in is slowly being surrounded by some "not so good" areas. I have ran into some shady looking people while walking my dogs so I'm more concerned with protecting myself then worrying about loose dogs. Luckily we've never ran into any in our area, but I guess what I carry could work either way.....
  12. I give all 3 of mine trifexis. I give it immediately after the meal. I also crush it up and mix it with peanut butter or stinky cat food because mine don't like the taste. I did have one instance of my lab (who has IBS) throwing it up about 30 minutes after I gave it to him. I waited one day and gave him another with rice and he did fine.
  13. My last foster had them really really bad over his entire belly. So gross.... I used witch hazel on his belly 2x's per day and they started to clear up in about a week. I like the idea of that versus putting the harsh acne meds on that thin skin!
  14. Acana and Orijen don't have any ingredients from China. Another reason to love this food!
  15. It's funny how some dogs love the antlers and some show no interest. If I don't supervise my 3 with them they will end up fighting over them! Gigi thinks any toy/treat is hers no matter if they each got one. She will steal them all until she has 3 toys/treats on her bed? My last foster snuck an antler outside one day and I didn't realize it. They next thing I knew I was breaking up a dog fight! scary stuff!
  16. It is something to be concerned with, my friend's greyhound recently spent a week at the ER vet because he was "poisoned" the only conclusion they could come up with was that since he is so high prey that he must have ingested a mouse or other animal that had ingested poison. They do not use poisons in their house.
  17. I'm curious about this too. Can't help you, but I can add that Gigi has done this most of the time after drinking since I got her 7 months ago!
  18. My heart is breaking with you..I have no words to say except Gracie knew she was loved for this short time and you show'd her what a true family was. It's just so unfair that she has been taken from you after such a short time. I'm so sorry.
  19. Another reason I only feed grain free. Then you don't need to worry about all that!
  20. Pat, I'm so sorry for your loss. I know how much Moe meant to you and I feel like I got to know her through your posts on here.
  21. I have a ragdoll and he had the same relationship with my last foster. They would play slap at each other withBud (the ragdoll) sitting up on his hind legs to paw at him. Badger (the foster) would try to mouth him like he would the other dogs and it scared me to death. I don't think that he would hav hurt Bud but after that I didn't allow them to interact much mainly because I didn't want Badger learning bad habits before going to his forever home. I think if you make sure to monitor their play and Truman knows not to get rough they will be fine. I'm sure Meezer will let him know of he gets out of hand. Cats are good at that! Good luck!
  22. Have you looked into ordering online. I use www.chewy.com and they offer free shipping on orders over $50. The large bags are also about $10 cheaper then in the store.
  23. I've also been seeing some news reports about the Beneful Purina dog food.
