  1. I use Trifexis on all 3 of my dogs and I really didn't think it was that much more when you add up the cost of all the mulitple products you use in it's place, plus I like not having them all greasy from a topical flea med. I'll pay a little extra for that convenience.
  2. My current foster had severe flea dermatitis when we first got him (about 3 months ago) and he was completely bald in that area. After the dermatitis cleared up he got the same bumps in that same area. I washed them with an antibacterial soap about 3x's a week and it is starting to clear up and the hair is growing back somewhat...I think he's going to be a bald butt .... Maybe she has some sort of irritation for the kennel.
  3. I would say the 48 would be perfect. I'm glad you guys are finally getting your grey! What group did you decide to go with?
  4. I swear every time Gigi comes inside from playing in the backyard she has a new cut or scrape in her leg/paws. Thank god she's young and healthy so they heal up quickly with only one vet visit so far! She's even started hiding them for me if she does have one somewhere because she knows mom will break out the peroxide!
  5. Judy, I feel like I know your dogs just from this forum. I am so sorry for your loss.
  6. I'm not an expert, but I think it could be him just being cautious on the slick surfaces. In the first video it looked like he might be sliding on his back legs.
  7. I've found the antlers at Petsmart and Feeder supply here. They are more expensive, but I've found them on sale and stocked up. They last FOREVER! I'm going on 2 months with a large one.
  8. Antlers, mine will fight over them and they last forever!
  9. My first foster was a major teeth chatterer! I love and miss that sound so much! Gigi has never done it
  10. I had a foster do this once. She slammed herself into the back of my jeep before i had a chance to open the hatch. Scared the crap outta me! I thought for sure she was hurt, ever since then I keep my dogs on a very short leash until I have the hatch open and ready. They all just get so excited for car rides!
  11. I use the Nupro Joint and Immunity Support for my lab mix because he has joint issues and after a couple weeks on it he is not stiff after laying down and likes to run and play again.
  12. Thanks guys! The vet told us to have him take the antibiotic and if its not improving by the time we bring him in next week for his neuter then they will give him some steroids. I tried the coconut oil and it help out a lot! Poor guy is just ate up I hate to see it, but glad we got him before it was allowed to get much worse! I'm going to try the benedryl tonight.
  13. Ok greytalkers I need some advice, my new foster that I just picked up today is just in awful shape. Poor guy has a sever flea allergy and has major bumps, hair loss, and scabs from scratching all over. The vet has prescribed him cephelaxin. I got him home and gave him a good bath, but he is still really itchy. My question is: Is there any good topical ointment I can put on him to help sooth him and make it more bearable?
  14. Greys are so dang cute its hard to discipline them....I completely understand! I have a 3 year old that is a land shark, the only thing I have found was bitter apple spray. It has been the cure all, some people say it doesn't work, but it works for mine. I think if you try it and it has no effect then try fooey spray and it should work. People seem to say usually one or the other will work. I spray it on everything she could possible get her mouth on and since I have started doing that I have not had any problems!
  15. I feed mine Acana Pacifica, it's pricier, but they eat less of it and it averages out to about the same price as a bag of blue buffalo because of that. My lab has severe food allergies and the Acana was all I could find that worked for him. He likes to scrounge the others' food, so they all got switched to it! I love the results of the food. They have great coats and breath and their stool is wonderful! Gigi could be the poster child for this food with the way it helped her coat after coming off the farm! I order it off of mrchewys.com and have it set up as a reoccurring order, so that makes it about $10 cheaper then the specialty stores.
  16. I switched all of mine to Acana. Just do it slowly and they will adjust. The Acana is such a better quality food that their body uses almost all of it so they need much less. Mine don't even seem to notice they are getting less food now. I did it over a week and a half of slowly decreasing the amount. She will be fine.
  17. Yea it doesn't help that my husband travels a lot for work and I like my doggie snuggles when he's gone! I don't really mind it, but she has started kicking us! Lol thanks for all the great suggestions
  18. yes they all have there own beds. She just wants to be close to us. I know I sound like a baby, but it is soooo much harder to discipline these dogs! She knows her manners and follows the other rules in the house, I quess I have just been to lenient with the bed issue. Thanks for all the suggestions! I am going to start tonight and hopefully she gets it quick.
  19. Ok...I think I started a very bad thing, when Gigi first came home we allowed her to get up on the bed and thought it was so sweet now, however she has become a beast to sleep with! My husband and I are not sleeping because she is constantly pushing and rearranging. I have tried to get her to get down, but she always gets right back up. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to retrain her to not jump on the bed. I fear that I won't be able to. She has come to think if it as her bed...she takes all her toys there...... I know and can handle it with our other 2 non-grey dogs ( neither of them jump on the bed unless I tell them it's okay and they both get down whe told) greyhounds just aren't the same! I hope someone can help me
  20. I bought an antler to try and my dogs love them! I wasn't sure about them when I saw them at the store, but they are a grat source of calcium, all natural, and very hard. They are more pricey but they last a very long time!
  21. I'm new to this too, but I can relate to you for the fact that Gigi did the exact same thing! She was golden the first 3 days we had her then BAM completely different dog! It's kinda like everything is new and exciting the first few days then reality hits them that this is permanent. You have to remember how you would feel if one day you were living somewhere you were used too and then you were basically kidnapped and brought to another new strange environment. Everyone says that it takes 6 months to a year for greyhounds to fully show their true personalities and things will get better. We have had Gigi now for going on 2 months and things have improved dramatically. It will get better!
  22. Wonderul tribute. I'm so sorry for your loss.
