  1. I would adopt ASAP. (or foster with intent to adopt to ensure that they get along)....Don't let "guilt" stop you from adopting too soon....you are not replacing your beautiful hound...but simply opening up your home to another.
  2. I have had limited reading time on gt and am just seeing this. I am heartbroken. There was just something about him that I fell in love with the minute I first saw him here..... No words....except that he could not have been more loved.
  3. Welcome from Rhode Island! How wonderful that you adopted a senior!
  4. Best wishes! Keep us informed of how it's going!

What a beautiful tribute to a wonderful dog.....and my heart breaks thinking of the amount of pain you have faced in such a short time....
  6. Continued good thoughts for your boy!!!!!
  7. Best wishes.....thinking of you.
  8. Congratulations to all involved! This is a very lucky hound....though I know that you probably feel pretty lucky, too!

    R.i.p. Oberon

I am just reading this and heartbroken for you. I lost my Jack from surgical complications...Dental and corn removal. The devastation of losing on that way was beyond what I could cope with. Like you, the emptiness without a greyhound in my house was unbearable (at the time EZ was travelling with my husband back and forth to Upstate New York where he was stationed). The loss of losing them so suddenly, and the horror of losing them to something "routine" is indescribable. My heart is with you. I know it's been a few months - but I also know that the pain doesn't go away.

    Guinness Is Gone

Thinking of you....and I am so sorry about Obie...I did not know....
  11. White on the sclera. The complexity of a CBC with him is a false low. He has platelets that clot very rapidly....so machine counts aren't accurate.....I have a vet who does just his blood work for me with hand counts... He seems ok....and the house smells a lot less smokey right now....I filled the steam pot way up on the fireplace.
  12. No bruising. No, I don't use any of that. His gums are pink and healthy. No red pin prick look.
  13. No advice.....just good wishes. Hopefully he got mostly cardboard.
  14. Hi All, When JJ woke up from his nap, his normal nose drip had a slight bloody tint. It was still more watery than blood, and it was just one drop. With the horses, we usually see this after a big sneeze, and don't worry too much. JJ has had low platelets before, but his gums look fine and it was only one drop. I have had the wood stove burning in the house for three days straight - and I can smell that wood burning smell throughout the house - so I'm sure, despite having the steam pot on top, the house is a bit dry. Do you all think that it could be from the dryness? Dustin has had a few sleepers in his eyes - and I've attributed that to the dryness as well.

I am just reading this now, Deb. What a beautiful tribute to a special boy..... I believe that all the beings in our lives cross our paths for a reason......and each of those is a gift we take with us as we grow in life.
