  1. My JJ has a high prey drive.....we avoid little dogs.....but don't let it make you think any differently of her.....just because they have that drive in them, doesn't take away from the big ball of love that they are I other situations.....my JJ is the most happy go lucky guy...but I would fear what he could do to a small dog if things kicked in with one loose with him....
  2. Amber's approach, other than the Pepcid, is right on with what we do with Dustin....though Dustin is on royal canon digestive food. Watch for the earliest signs and address ASAP.
  3. When Dustin's belly flares up, the sucralfate and flagyl help. We do have him on daily Pepcid.....we have not diagnosed Dustin's flare ups as anything specific as I don't want to put him under to test when treatments are similar regardless. We are noticing a seasonal pattern. Flare ups during August thru October.....assuming allergy triggered.
  4. He is so beautiful.....and very blessed to have a human who is doing everything possible for him.... Many well wishes....
  5. Hand count shows a platelet count of 105K!!!!! We will recheck in four weeks to be sure that it is steady!
  6. Thanks, Kyle! All good thoughts are always appreciated. After watching Jack turn purple as he was dying, I am a bit hysterical....but JJ seems basically healthy.
  7. Amylase was fine. The clumping factor is why she wants the hand count. I believe he has had the snap 4dx
  8. The pictures of Slayers are what EZ's blackheads looked like - and my recent foster hound. Both let me squeeze them.... But...uhm.....yeah.....those are nipples!
  9. We will see what the hand-counted number is and then go from there. If it is the case that it is the tick borne illness, what is prognosis?
  10. OK....so we had held off on surgery for a lump (which incidentally went away) because JJ's blood counts were off.... four weeks ago... Platelets 49K Creatinine 1.9 Lipase 3900 Recheck today - PLatelets 41K Creatinine 2.0 Lipase 2665 After the tests four weeks ago, he went on an iron supplement for two weeks and went on a lower protein, low-fat diet. He is in thyroid meds, and was on metrondionzole (after eating Daddy's leather wallet), but they do not believe there is a connection. His red blood count is in within range....on the higher side of the range (8.4), but still within where it should be. All other counts on CBC are fine except the platelets. They are sending me tomorrow for a hand-counted platelet slide. Any thoughts?????
  11. She is beautiful and very lucky..... Clearly she hit the parent jackpot!
  12. These "milestone" dates are so hard......may your fond memories help you through.
  13. So sorry for your loss. What a beautiful hound....
  14. I think the risk of that being the tumor, I.e. the margins is why she doesn't want to do a local.... He has had the snap test in the past and showed no issues. Is, just hoping she is being overly cautious given my history flossing a hound. Sent an email to the office to get the platelet number.
  15. Lori....she was so beautiful....and so blessed to have found your loving home..... Godspeed beautiful girl.
  16. Don't have numbers....and just creatinine on kidney. They weren't all that worried about that given breed. I will try to get the platelet number. My vet was a greyhound track vet, so she is familiar w numbers, but is probably being a bit extra cautious because of my losing Jack to anesthesia. As far as a local, she seems to think it is relatively deep and, possibly a nerve sheath tumor. If so, she wants to be sure she can remove it all. He had a cut last week, though, and did not bleed excessively or bruise.
  17. JJ was supposed to have surgery to remove a neck lump this morning, but platelet count low and kidney count high. I know they sometimes have a low count, but I am particularly concerned given that the lump may be malignant. The lump recently popped up and is pea size.
