  1. I'm very sorry for your loss. Run pain-free, Algy.
  2. Sweep, don't let them forget the fries. Happy Birthday gorgeous girl!
  3. First time I've managed to get online here. The house we rented has had numerous wi-fi issues. We met up with Riverhound on Friday and saw Tricia and Burke yesterday in Rehoboth. Yesterday we did the Grain to Glass tour at Dogfish Head Brewery which I highly recommend unless you are gimpy like me. My legs are shot today so I am laying low. MercsMom - are you still here or leaving today? We are around on Monday to catch up with anyone who is still here.
  4. I've been there in hurricanes, sideways-raining tropical storms, and and other wet weeks. I can handle a little rain, but my desert-acclimated body will be freezing at those temps, especially if it's wet. I used to go out in the middle of winter in a t-shirt and shorts to wash the car when we lived in the Midwest if we got a day in the 50's. Now 60's means jeans, a sweatshirt, and maybe a jacket if it's windy. Getting old sucks.
  5. We are flying out on Monday and will get to the beach on Wednesday night after a few other stops. Looks like I;m going to have to pack my rain coat to keep it from raining. If I bring it, the weather is sure to be sunny and great. 6. I haven't told her. We might have to make up National Red Dog Day to keep her from stomping her feet in protest.
  7. Kate had no idea that there was a day just for her....
  8. That's awesome. We haven't seen some of our "greyhound family" in at least 3 or 4 years because one or the other of us didn't make it there the last few years. The best part of the week is catching up with old friends and meeting new greyhound folks.
  9. Pretty much this. You never know the quirks until a dog has spent some time living in your home. Often a spook will be placed on adoption hold by a group so that someone can work with the dog before adoption, but even this varies from group to group.
  10. Petunia barked this morning, when breakfast was late and DW and I were still sleeping. Rocket would give one "woof" when the doorbell rang - just to let me know that the doorbell rang.
  11. I'm very sorry for your loss. Run-free Sidney.
  12. Trolley (12) , Petunia (11) and Bella (11) all celebrating their July birthdays together this year. Kate (11) - adopted by us a little over a week ago.
  13. He may want you to turn the fan on. We've had lots of greyhounds in and out of our house from boarders to visitors to our own hounds, and they all like to lay directly under the ceiling fan when it's moving, or in front of the floor fan in the bedrooms. They seem to like the air movement. Some greyhounds are freaked out by celing fans when they first arrive, so you lucked out. Very handsome dude!

    Lexie

To say we were shattered by Lexie's passing would be putting it mildly. She was our remaining link to Rocket and all of the fun we had at their expense with their dating, wedding and everything in between. I will never forget the laughter among all of us when we found the engagement ring and sent it to her on Rocket's behalf. She was a huge part of our life even though we never got to meet her in person. Remember, their romance and wedding were all online, right here on GreyTalk. The smiles that she brought to thousands of people with her pictures, therapy work and all of her patience in the various videos are beyond a number that can be counted. We absolutely adored Lexie like she was our own. She will be missed by more people than she ever knew. Petunia and Katie will miss their "sister from another mother." I'm sure that Rocket met Lexie at The Bridge and the two of them are finally together. Run-free Lexie. We all love you and will miss you so much.
  15. The one I bought was in the store so we were able to confirm the size. It was a little small for a big boy like Rocket but he curled up in and/or hung his head off of the bolsters just fine. I do prefer to touch them before buying just to be sure what I'm getting. Keep checking your local Costco stores for the bolsters. Ours didn't have any for months, then all of a sudden every Costco here in Phoenix suddenly had them. They do not appear on the website ever, so going in person is always the best bet for those.
  16. The most recent bolster bed we bought at COSTCO doesn't have the same quality of foam in the bed platform as the previous beds did. The actual bed had dips in it within 2 weeks. The old beds always looked like they were new for many years. The bolsters seem to be fine though. We are going to have to get a new piece of better foam for the bed to last. That being said, the dogs still really like the Costco bolster beds. At one time we also had a bolster bed from Sam's Club that was made by Serta. That was Rocket's favorite bed for many years and the foam in it was very solid. Those beds still show up occasionally at our local Sam's. Not sure if they can be ordered from the website or not.
  17. Hello from Phoenix. We can almost walk outside again....
  18. Check the introductions post. We signed the papers last week and chained the trash can shut.
  19. Seriously - neither of them have a clue that they are 11. It's a big part of the fun with both of them.
  20. I haven't tried that product specifically, but have been impressed with the foods in the Pro Plan line that say they have specific benefits, like Bright Mind, Focus etc. Reviews and reports from other owners are really good, and our own experience with the Large Breed Focus was so good when Rocket ate it, that we are now feeding it to Kate and Petunia since the "senior food" we were using was discontinued. They are both doing great on it.
  21. I said the same thing when we met her. She doesn't seem to know that she is 11, only that she is definitely "retired."
