  1. Not sure if you are referring to the wire type basket muzzle or the plastic type that is commonly referred to in the US as a kennel muzzle. Here's a link to a kennel muzzle in case it's not what you have. The kennel muzzzle can be left buckled and just slipped in place over the head. https://gemstore-185419.square.site/product/muzzle/34?cs=true&cst=custom
  2. It took me quite a while to be able to look at pics of Rocket and I couldn't watch his videos for a really long time. We've had a parade of seniors and some dogs in rough shape through here since, and while it never gets easier to lose one, I find that I don't dwell on or think about those little details either. After a few months, I did find that I could laugh again about something one of them did - sucn as Kate who was so proud of herself for strewing the trash from our Whataburger dinner all over the kitchen. She raided the trash can the next day while we were gone. We still have the locking trash can in honor of Kate. It takes time, and I don't think there's any one thing I can tell you that would really help immediately, but give it all the time you need. Eventually you will find yourself telling a story about one of them and laughing at their antics like you did when they were here. It caught me by surprise when it finally happened. It is okay to miss them, but it is also okay to not think about it if you're not ready to.
  3. One of our hounds (I think it was Petunia )had an extra nail grow out the side of her toe. We had to keep it dremeled. I'd probably let the vet deal with it since you are going anyway. Maybe wrap the foot with vet wrap to avoid snagging the nail.
  4. Happy Birthday, Buddy!1 12 is awesome! You are one handsome dude.
  5. I must have missed this post. We adopted a bonded pair (boy and girl) who's owner passed away suddenly. Unfortunately, Diva, the girl of the pair, started limping shortly after arrival and by week 3 we had confirmed that she had Osteo. She got progressively worse and went to The Bridge after just a few weeks with us. Her brother, Mark (big, goofy boy Mark in my other posts) very obviously knew that she was sick. When she left us, he did okay on his own. Just a month or two after that, another local GH owner passed away and her hound was in the apartment with her for several days before she was found. We took in LaVida the morning that the group picked her up and she made herself at home. She and Mark became buddies right away, and it's like they have both always been here. We have had Mark for a year and LaVida will be here for one year in January. We did see the pair (Mark and Diva) relying on each other, but they were very well adjusted dogs. Mark relied on Diva to do most everything for him, and it turns out that he was just a lazy boy who let her do everything. She would let us know when he wanted out, or she would make sure to take him out when she went. They each left food for the other in each of their bowls, and at the end of the meal they would switch bowls and finish the other's food. There were lots of little things we picked up on during the time they were together here. Mark is now pretty self-sufficient about things, but he and LaVida do walk together and go out to lay in the sun together. I would not hesitate to take in hounds that were in another home together. We have taken in mostly seniors the past few years, and while losing them was hard, I will take in seniors anytime.
  6. I think the pharmacist was probably confused when he heard that local celbrity Paul McCartney was in town. (Not that Paul McCartney -)
  7. OK - just making sure. We have seen greyhounds get labeld as "vicious" or "aggressive" for just doing dog things, so wanted to make sure there was no confusion. My thought is that the other dog made some kind of move or action that your dog perceived as a problem. It could have been something as subtle as a lip curl that no one saw, but my thought is that your dog acted on it since there was no warning prior. Obviously, with your dog being new, maybe the whole event of going to store and groups of people with a dog overwhelmed him as well. For now, you know that you will need a little more control of him in public situations and around other dogs. Fortunately, the injury sounds like it was minor. There are a few people here who are more experienced with behavioral issues, so hopefully they will chim in. Good luck.
  8. With no growl and no warning, i'm going to ask the question - Could this have been play? We have dogs who play "bitey face." Injuries can happen during rough play, so I think the question bears asking - did your dog think he was playing with the other dog?
  9. Last week was the 4 year mark since Rocket left us. It doesn't seem possible. I'm betting all of those GT kids are one wild group together at The Bridge. Sweep is definitely enjoying watching the new kids at your house.
  10. This is just the beginning of getting the prime spot. You need to keep track of who lulls the the other from the prime sofa cushion. Kate used to go to the door and bark like someone was outside so that Petunia would run to the door to check things out. Kate would then go take the bed that Petunia had been in. Worked like a charm, every time.
  11. That makes me laugh. We should all have a bag of replacement squeakers.
  12. That is Lambie's squeaker in the pic (white round plastic piece). It is still functional so will go back inside when surgery commences tomorrow. There is a whole pile of patients for surgery on our dining room table. The squeaker appears to be a very good one and still has lots of life left in it.
  13. Poor Lambie..... Between LaVida and Stella - the floor has looked pretty much like this for a month now. Stella brought out the play gene in LaVida (or the broodie gene - not sure which.)
  14. Fantastic pictures! Thank you for sharing them. Looks like you have some paws to clean!
  15. Can you still see your carpet? If so, there's room. Good luck!
  16. Happy Birthday, Logan! Love the spins! You look so much like Rocket who always said that a white face just makes you look"stinguished."
  17. Of the 2, we've only used Carprofen and found the price to be better for one a couple of generic variations. The one we usually end up with is called TruProfen and we get it from the Sam's Club Pharmacy at the best price. I think we also picked it up once from the vet at a pretty competitive price. If you haven't previously used Chewy Pet Pharmacy, there is often a 20% off coupon for first time customers of the Chewy Pet Pharmacy, and you can also often use a Good RX discount code at Heartland Vet Supply.
