  1. Next training class: How To Raid the Refrigerator 101...
  2. That cat picked the wrong yard......hope they are feeling better soon.
  3. Not to take away from Aiden and Cinco's introduction, but we don't see nearly enough of the gang at HeeHoo's house. I think their Momma needs to start a thread and post some pics. How's that for a subtle hint?
  4. Welcome to your forever home guys! I can hear the joy in your Momma's writing! I have a feeling that Camp Greyhound better have the camera on standby with these two! Congratulations to all at Camp Greyhound! PeeeeS - Happy Birthday Aiden!
  5. Our vet switched Rocket to Trifexis. He threw it up the first time after about an hour, but the second time we gave it (a month later), he did fine. You MUST give it right at the end of a meal on a completely full stomach. Other than the first incident, he has done fine on it. Will be watching to see what changes next with all of these products.
  6. Thanks to Taylor and Face's dad for sending me this info. For those of us awaiting the return of Interceptor to the market, it's apparently not going to happen. Apparently Interceptor will not be manufactured for the US market any longer. Only Sentinel Flavor Tabs will be available. I hate marketing decisions. Here's the article: If this is a repost, I missed it the first time around, but didn't find anything on a search. http://veterinarynews.dvm360.com/dvm/Parasitology+Center/Sentinel-Flavor-Tabs-reintroduced-to-veterinary-ma/ArticleStandard/Article/detail/810830?contextCategoryId=40534
  7. It can take more than a week. I wouldn't worry yet, especially if the blood has cleared up. We deal with bloody/gelatinous stools with Rocket a couple times a year. I have started using Evanger's Canned Organic Chicken instead of cooking chicken for him. It seems to work better for him, I think because it is ground so fine that it's easier to digest. i can slowly start mixing kibble with it a little at a time until he is back on kibble after the bloody stools clear up. Be sure to continue the Flagyl until things are back to normal, kibble can irritate the tummy and you will be back where you started .
  8. Thanks for the replies. Will check into this a little further and decide what to do.
  9. There have been a number of various threads on tick collars and tick prevention. I cannot find this answer in the threads or using Google. I need to add something to Rocket's monthly treatment that will cover ticks since we are now using Trifexis. I would like to use the Preventic Collar, but cannot find any mention of the one for dogs having a breakaway clasp. The one for cats is specifically marketed as a breakaway, but there is no mention of that for the dog product. Rocket will be boarded for a couple of weeks next month, and will spend idle time and overnight in a crate. I don't want a collar on him that isn't a breakaway. Can anyone advise if the Preventic is a breakaway? If not, is there one out there that is ?(not flea and tick, but tick only) Thanks.
  10. Looks a little bit like a spider bite, but it really could be anything. Might be worth sending the pics to your vet for an opinion.
  11. She'll probably want a refill in a while. Greyhounds seem to like their coffee. The biggest problem is the caffeine. In a dog the size of a greyhound, it would take a significant amount of caffeine to cause a problem. If she starts getting hyper, restless, or has any medical issues that are heart related, then I would call the vet to double check. One glass shouldn't be a problem unless it's an energy drink or contains some exorbitant amount of caffeine.
  12. Several people here have mentioned an Adams product (a spray or topical) that works well. I think they also make a tick collar that is pretty good. Might want to do some research on those products to see if anything they offer would help.
  13. I have to keep a Stainless Steel Dog Bowl in each car. Mr. Picky won't drink out of anything else, but will drink out of my hand if I offer it.
  14. Milk sales are way down nationwide - just another sales gimmick by the milk marketers.
  15. Most of the threads about Pet Insurance are found by searching on the name of the company or policy your are considering. The discussions are usually about the product itself, not whether or not it's worth it. Most people here who use it are are always glad they have it when there's a major expense.
  16. Anytime i go to the vet now, regardless of the reason, I pickup a week's supply of Flagyl to keep on hand. The first hint of diarrhea never occurs when the vet is open. i order the Evanger's from Wag.com . I think Petflow also carries it. The organic is about 2 bucks a can, but worth it to me since it works for us. Locally, Pet Supplies Plus carries it, but the supply there can be hit or miss, so sometimes they have the organic, other times it's the non-organic or the Chicken and Rice - I have used each of them at different times with success. I prefer the organic, it appears to have more meat, and doesn't smell as strong as the others.
  17. I've started using Evanger's Organic Canned Chicken in place of the cooked bland diet. Rocket seems to recover faster on it, and I have no trouble getting him to eat it. Usually 1/2 can 4 times a day until he can start back on a little kibble. Going by the instructions he should actually have 4 cans a day for his weight if I was feeding it normally, but spreading out 2 cans over 4 feedings has worked fine when he has tummy issues. Nothing in it but chicken and water, with a little organic guar gum as a thickener. It's also easier to just keep a case of that on hand so i don't have to cook a special diet just for him. Evanger's also has a non-organic Chicken and Rice canned food that they market specifically as a food for dogs with diarrhea or stomach problems. The can notes that it is for temporary use only, and is not intended for regular feeding. When i opened it, it smelled and looked about like the canned ID food from the vet, at 1/5 the price. I have used both foods successfully. Sounds like Bella might need some Flagyl as well. Feel better soon Bella!
  18. Just now saw this. Lots of good thoughts for Jimmie! Hope he's feeling better soon.
