  1. We periodically buy our hound pack a Wendy's cheeseburger for a treat. They love it and haven't suffered any ill consequences.
  2. My condolences on the loss of your handsome Brady. What a lucky boy he was to have found your family.
  3. Jingles for your Toby! Hope you find some relief soon.
  4. I'm so sorry your Princess Leia isn't feeling well. Our four pack ranges in age from 8 y/o to 13.5 y/o. All love to eat, so I'm not much help with that. Glad you're finding something that works!
  5. I don't have children, so I can't help there. However, we did bring our greyhound Celeste with us when Faye Oops left us due to osteo. Those two dogs shared an incredible bond. Celeste was a huge source of comfort for Faye Oops in those final moments. Faye Oops wouldn't setting until Celeste laid her head on her. It made everyone cry. I've read many posts where the dogs feel lost when they lose a pack member. We didn't really experience that with Celeste. I'd like to believe that being with Faye Oops until the end gave her closure.
  6. My heart hound Faye Oops. Lost to osteo 12/1/11.
  7. Hope Milo is OK and passes the clicker without incident. Our dogs took a dislike to Cesar Milan.
  8. My condolences on the loss of your handsome Argos. What a lucky boy he was to have you and your family.
  9. A LOT We just added 1 patty per meal per dog (we feed 2x per day) in addition to their kibble while traveling. The large bag cost $28 and was good for 9 meals for our four pack.
  10. NeylasMom (Jen) told me that they use the freeze dried rabbit for training treats too. The freeze dried are really lightweight, easy to pack, and most importantly, got our entire pack to gobble up food when away from home!
  11. The local pet store where our group hosts a monthly M&G had a rep from Stella & Chewy's handing out samples of the freeze-dried dinners. We tried a few varieties and our dogs liked them. So, before heading to Grapehounds NY, we bought a bag of the beef pattys to add into their kibble. We've done quite a bit of traveling with our hound pack. Thanks to Stella & Chewy's this was also the first time we didn't have to throw out any kibble. We crumpled up one patty in with their kibble, added water, and wound up with empty bowls at each meal. No upset tummies either. http://www.stellaandchewys.com/
  12. My condolences on the loss of your Poodle. He certainly found the right car when he found you.
  13. Ditto. One of our pack, Bonny, was a bounce. I'm guessing she had to EARN treats in her last home. Six years later, and she will almost always sit and give you her paw when she sees a treat.
  14. Galgos, like greyhounds, are all individuals. We adopted a senior galgo in October. Beatrix is not small, nor is she active. FBM did describe her as "low-key" and even SAGE was OK with us only having a 5' fence. Beatrix has shown ZERO interest in jumping. Well, unless it is onto our bed our couch. She fits in perfect with our senior pack and low-key lifestyle.
  15. We've used regular pet shampoos on our greyhounds in the past without any issues. With that said, we most recently used Pretty Baby Naturals liquid pet shampoo to wash our hound pack. No problems. We like Pretty Baby for ourselves - all natural, family business. http://www.prettybabynaturals.com/product-category/pets-home/
  16. There is no cure for osteo. Amputation may or may not be an option for various reasons. After having lost my heart dog, Faye Oops, to this dreaded disease, I believe that you're never wrong letting them go a day too early.
  17. We have a 13.5 y/o and a 12.5 y/o. Both have maintained their weight with no increase in feed. I'd check with the vet.
  18. All greys are different. Some never roach or lean. It took us over a year to catch our grey girl Darcy in a roach. She still doesn't roach very often. Meanwhile, Celeste and Bonny practically live upside down.
  19. I'm so sorry to hear about your girl. We lost our Faye Oops to osteo in 2011. There is an existing thread with TONS of good information and support for osteo. Check it out - http://forum.greytalk.com/index.php/topic/305786-osteo-thread-part-8/
  20. It just depends on the dog. One of the people that dog sits our hounds has cats, chinchillas, a hedgehog and birds. She also has two greyhounds. Our hounds Celeste and Bonny do fine with her menagerie. We don't send Darcy and Beatrix to her house though.
  21. Bonny has had some pretty major dentals - one losing 8 teeth and the last one losing 3 teeth. She tends to be pretty drugged when we get her home. See how Zuri is when it is time to leave. Bonny has always come through fine. She mostly spends the evening after a dental asleep. I would not take him with you.
  22. No suggestions, but a greyhound we babysit ALWAYS pees and poops on our deck. None of our pack does it, so it's not like there is a lingering odor that attracts her. She just doesn't seem to want to potty in the grass like the rest of them.
  23. Dogs in NYC don't have grass to potty on - unless their owners take them to Central Park. They learn to adapt.
  24. Welcome! I'm over in Centreville. Our greyhounds are all in the double digits now, so no more playgroup. You can always find us at Grapehounds though.
  25. We keep a dog bed in our guest bathroom as a refuge from storms. Sometimes our dogs just like sleeping in there. Now that the days are longer and warmer, I'm guessing they just like that it is darker and cooler in there.
