  1. So sorry I'm just seeing this now. I can only echo what others are feeling for you---heartbreak, fear, worry. Words can't express our concern. I'm so sorry you lost your precious Barkley. I hope you can get to someplace safe.
  2. Darlene, I'm glad I had a chance to meet your beautiful girl. I'm so sorry you had to say goodbye.
  3. OMG, I fell in love with Allie after watching her leap and spin and run so joyfully in your video. And her in the party hat with her family.... How blessed she was to find so many people to love her, and make her final months so happy. I wish she could have stayed longer, but they live in the moment, and she knew for certain that she was safe, happy, and very loved. I'm so sorry you lost your precious Allie.
  4. Thank-you for giving a senior lady some wonderful years. I'm so sorry you lost your precious Brandy.
  5. Aw, Kerry, you are incredibly eloquent, perceptive and sensitive. I'm so sorry that eloquence is describing the anguish and loss you feel every day. But you make us understand that pain, and let you know that we share it. I hope that helps just a little. And, as always, thank-you for sharing your magical Merlin with us.
  6. Oh, what a heartbreaking decision you had to make. When it comes so suddenly, I think it's natural to doubt your decision. But please know that you did what you did out of love, and to keep your precious lady from suffering. So very hard for you, but the kindest thing for Zilla. What a lovely dog she was! I'm so glad you posted some more pictures. Her joy just shines through, and it's clear that she had a wonderful life with you. I'm so sorry she couldn't have stayed longer, but you packed a lot of love into your years together.
  7. I'm so sorry you lost your sweet Kali, but so glad you found each other.

We are sending you hugs and much sympathy.

  19. Oh, Petra, I'm so sorry you lost your precious Cara. I know how much you meant to each other, and what a deep love there was between you. If ever a dog and a human were meant to be together, it was you and Cara. She was your constant through so many changes, good and bad. And through her beauty and your sensitivity and skill at capturing that beauty, inside and out, you both drew attention to the plight of the Galgo, and melted hearts all over the world. Thank-you so much for sharing her with us. We are sharing your sadness.
  20. What a wonderful boy he was! I'm so sorry you lost your precious Joe.
  21. I'm so sorry you lost your precious boy. I've lost 2 rather suddenly, and it does add another layer to your grief. Though we are never truly prepared, when they are with us one moment, and gone the next, we first have to get over that shock, and maybe even feelings of guilt, before we can truly start that process. Grief is a necessary emotion, and there is no time limit. Like LaFlaca said, grieve as long as you need to. And I also think a remembrance ceremony is a lovely idea. Plus, you are doing something very necessary and intelligent by coming here to express all the emotions you are feeling. We all really do understand. Sadly, it is one thing that we have in common---the loss of a much loved dog. So by talking about it, you're not holding everything inside, or even wondering if it's normal. Let me tell you---it is normal. It's a journey. And though it doesn't seem like it now, it does get better. Just as deep love brings deep loss, it also brings precious memories that will always be yours. Be gentle with yourself, and let yourself be sad. I found that when I needed to cry, I felt better when I just gave in to it totally. Of course, it was better done in private---people feel so helpless when they don't seem to be able to comfort you. And it tended to scare my husband. Surround yourself with those memories, feel close to him, and at some point, you'll realize that you didn't cry that day. And then will come the day when thoughts of Merlin bring more smiles than tears. And when you need to, please come here and talk. We share your sadness. Oh, I just saw that you wanted some help about posting a photo. I'm not sure how to tell you to do that, but I know there are people here who could help. Maybe someone will respond, and you can email a picture, so they can post it for you. Or, are you on Facebook? If you have a picture on Facebook, you can just click Copy Image over the photo, and post it here by pasting. If you have any pictures of Merlin, we'd love to see them!
  22. What an unbearably sad time this has been for you. I think your grief is not only doubled, it is quadrupled. I'm so sorry you lost your precious Joey.
  23. Aw, your tribute brought smiles as well as tears. How well you understood your girl, and how you loved her. I'm so sorry you lost your precious Allie.
  24. Me too! Reading your heartfelt tribute, and seeing his beautiful pictures made me cry for your loss, and for knowing he didn't have nearly long enough in your wonderful family. But home and family are words that exist in the heart, as surely as they existed in the real place where Bosco spent his last days. He knew he was home because he was truly a part of Camp Greyhound---safe, so devotedly taken care of and indulged, and very, very loved. I'm so sorry you lost this precious boy, and sad that you didn't have more time together. But so glad that you found each other.
  25. Judy, I'm so sorry you lost your precious Sammie. How blessed he was to have been a beloved part of your family---you're the best!
