What an awful shock and added to because you couldn't be there physically, but you were present in your heart and I'm sure neither distance nor time can interefere with something like that. Swiftie will have been comforted by it, and even now at the Bridge... maybe running free there with my last one, Angel.....

How heartwrenching to lose your precious girl when you were so far away. I know how it feels---I lost my Nick when he was the same age, and I wasn't with him. Even though your vet was very compassionate to let you speak to her on the phone, and she surely found comfort in your voices, I know that you ached to hold her. I'm so sorry you lost your dear Swiftie.

Thank you again everyone. Day by day the pain is easing and we've been able to laugh a little about her cute tendencies today. We're trying to keep ourselves busy to pass the time, so we did a jig-saw puzzle and tended to the yard a little-- which made me remember what a curious dog Swiftie was... I had to squish aphids off our milkweed plant and Swiftie would've been right there nuzzling up to me to see what I was doing.

Loved that little beastie.

I am so sorry. I cannot imagine being so far away when this happened. My thoughts are with you.

I am so very sorry for your sudden loss of Swiftie. It's heartbreaking when they leave and when it's sudden, the shock is even more devastating. I am sure she heard your final words to her.

Thank you again, everyone. DH spoke with Swiftie's regular vet on Monday and the vet affirmed our choice to let her go, as did the emergency vet who treated her. It was such a shocking, heartbreaking experience, but we've been so comforted by those who cared for her in her last hours and by others who've been through it....

Hugs to you all,

Lynne
