Two nights ago, I discovered another melanoma on Zariel. It's extremely small still, located on the back of his left leg. He had one last year just after Zuki left, that was on the back of his right leg. We went to the vet yesterday and he is scheduled for surgery tomorrow. If you can spare some good wishes, please send them for my boy.

Sending all the good thoughts we can. We are also dealing with melanoma with Lucas so know exactly how you are feeling.

Thank you Deb. I've been thinking about you and Lucas a lot these days. I hope he is still feeling well and you have a lot of time left with your sweet boy :grouphug

:candle hoping everything goes well tomorrow. Good that you caught it early!

Yes. Melanomas grow so fast. He was just in for a dental 2.5 weeks ago. The vet always checks him thoroughly because of his history of melanoma. She didn't catch this then, and I only found it 2 nights ago (I also check him every day or every other day). It's much smaller than the one last year, so hopefully the margins will be nice and clean :hope

Thank you everyone for your good wishes. I am sure they helped. I went to pick up Zariel at 4:00 pm and have been sitting with him since then. There is an incision about 6-7 inches long, and a huge chunk of tissue gone. Glad that she took such extra-wide margins, so hopefully it will be very clean. The tumor had grown at a phenomenal rate just in the past three days, it about tripled in size since I first found it as a tiny speck. Zariel is in a lot of pain and just can't get comfortable. Every time I think he will finally relax and hopefully sleep, he jerks his head up again. He did eat, and I will continue giving small portions throughout the rest of the evening. I gave the Rimadyl and Amoxicillin after he ate, so hopefully the Rimadyl will help with the pain. He wasn't hurting this much last year after removal of the first tumor. Hopefully he will be feeling much better by tomorrow :hope

Thank you. He finally did sleep and then had a mostly restful night. Except when he tried to lay on his left side, and then he was crying and growling. He's still not exactly himself this morning. Hope he will be well soon.

The path report just came in and it is not a melanoma (vet was surprised as me), it is a hemangioma/borderline hemangiosarcoma. The margins were very clean, and it was premetastasis. :yay

The report did say that it was a good thing we caught it and removed it so early :)
