Guest lilpnai09 Posted December 3, 2013 Share Posted December 3, 2013 Phoenix Star crossed the bridge yesterday afternoon. She was 12 years old and she lived a very happy life with us. She came into my life unexpectedly 5 years ago when Heep and I participated in our first GUR to bring her back to her rescue group when her family in South Jersey returned her. We were only supposed to foster her for a week, but I instantly fell in love with her and adopted her within a few days. She was my first grey & first foster fail and she gave me so much joy. She was very smart & sneaky and she excelled at figuring out how to get into the trash can (all types of trash cans!) and countersurfed like nobody's business. She was the queen of the pack, never hesitating to put the boys in their places with a quick growl when they attempted to raid the kitchen and then proceeding to do exactly what she was scolding them for. She spent her afternoons on the couch roaching on her back while napping. At night, she would pick her spot at the foot of the bed, and as the night wore on, Heep would wake up and find her nuzzled against her with her nose tucked in the crook of her arm. I miss her very much, but I'm comforted by the fact that she is no longer suffering and that she is up there running free with Havoc & Harley in heaven eating all the cheese sticks and Flavor-Ice that she can find. I miss her puking between the sheets, like a present for me to unwrap. I miss her jumping up on the table & eating all the sausages. I miss her sleeping like a people on my pillow & leaving drool stains. I miss her mandatory butt-rub sessions. I miss her impertinent stare. I miss how she let me kiss her all over. I miss how she let me use her butt as a pillow when I had a migraine. I miss how she'd run to greet me when I got home from work. I miss how she'd jump up on my bed & shake her stuffed giraffe to express her joy. I miss how she'd groan when I rubbed her ears. I miss her beautiful doggy smile. She was a good dog; the best dog.
