I'd ask about getting an emergency referral to a neurologist.

I wouldn't go with chiropractic until you know what you are dealing with. I am not anti-chiro - Rickie goes every second week - but it's important to know what you are treating first.

I second this advice. :nod Need to know what's going on first, IMHO.

NO chiro before an MRI!!

:nod I was a chiro skeptic & still am in some cases but happily admit my dogs have been helped by chiro & I would not hesitate to use it... assuming we have an idea of what we are dealing with or at least know we don't have something chiro could make worse. You are describing something that needs diagnostics prior starting chiro adjustments. MRI is a hard decision to make not only because of the cost but also the anesthesia needed. Still, it sounds like that would be a likely course of action.

Either an orthopedist with a good deal of spinal experience or a neurologist with same would be the place I would probably want to head.

Wishing your pup all the best. Hoping things improve dramatically in the next day or so.

Had a consult with an orthopedic vet as well as a surgical specialist today. Consensus without MRI is that Bella has ruptured a disc in her lower back. Vet recommended an MRI and surgery. Due to Bella's already compromised orthopedic condition and her ability to use only three legs for support. I have opted for conservative treatment through use of steroids and pain meds to see if there is any improvement. She is home, I am hoping for some improvement with time. Thank you for all the good wishes and support.

Ruptured disks are tough on two-leggeds, but they can heal up eventually even without surgery; not sure about four-leggeds. Hope the treatment gives her relief. Best wishes to both of you. :bighug

No improvement in mobility today. On the prednisone she is drinking and has started to eat which I am happy about. Continuing to hope for improvement. Thanks for the continued good thoughts and wishes.

By the way, Keeva is fine, no sign of any injury.

Hoping the next several days will bring some signs of improvement. Good that she is eating now!
