I take some comfort in knowing that they were together and that they did not suffer. Though my stomach continues to have an emptiness and my heart is aching, each day seems a tiny bit brighter. Yes it was a horrible accident that you had no control over just like no control over a disease. I can understand you feeling guilty as I think it is a natural reaction to a horrible situation but it was not your fault. I am so sorry for you and your pets. But, please don't live with guilt, because it was a tragic accident. The 'what if's' will tear you apart. You loved them kindly every day they were with you, and please take heart that they are together. Cake and Gussy would not want you to carry this burden around, because they love you as much as you love them. I'm so very sorry for your loss. Cake and Gussy are together now, and they're happy pups. You gave them a wonderful life. Try to remember it was a tragedy that was not your fault. They know this, and they love you for loving them. This is a horrible tragedy - and nothing you should blame yourself for....you did not let your babies down...rather they went to the bridge knowing that they had spent their days in a loving and caring home.
